Wrinkled veil

MrsGtoBe, on April 12, 2018 at 11:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Whats the best way to un-wrinkle a veil? I’ve heard of hanging it in the bathroom and taking a nice steamy shower but my veil is a 9ft cathedral and I don’t have anywhere to hang it where it wouldn’t still be bunched up on the floor. I’m nervous to use a steamer on it but I feel like that’s the only other option. Any suggestions or experiences people have had?

Is there a way you could hang it across the ceiling and tack up the top too? I also highly recommend using a steamer. If you don’t have one, a lot of local seamstresses are willing to do it for a relatively low fee.

You can steam it with shower steam in a closed bathroom. I did that for my tulle skirt and plan on doing the same for my veil.

My mom is dropping it off at her dry cleaners that she full trusts. They actually have to send it out to get it steamed.

I was pissed when I got my veil. It was wrinkled and the store said they would charge me $10 to steam it. I personally think it should have been free. I'm having my perfectionist brother in law steam it

I was just going to say the same thing. Crank the hottest shower in your bathroom and hang the veil on the door, then stop in and pull it once in a while to straighten the wrinkles out

^ yeah, this sounds like the safest method.

If you need, hang a hook from the ceiling and stretch each corner of the veil as far out as you can (and maybe put very, very gentle weights on the corners to help keep it fully spread out). If that doesn't work, dry cleaning.

I had the same question last week, and the consensus was to use a steamer. I think I will get use out of the steamer for things other than my veil, so I bought one. Didn’t try it yet but the handhelds were fairly reasonable on amazon.

I got mine from David's Bridal and they said I can bring it back before the wedding and they would steam it for me and hang it against a piece of cardboard so it won't wrinkle.

I bought my veil online and it came all bunched up in a package. I took it out and put some Luke warm water in the sink with a little fabric softener. Put the veil in it for maybe 30 seconds (long enough to get the whole thing wet), gently wrung it out and hung it on a hanger. Gently pulled it straight and let it air dry. It worked GREAT! But mine only comes to the middle of my back so it wasn't hard to hang up to dry...

Definitely use a steamer. My cousin made her wedding veil and we steamed it the day of. Super easy process.
