*~* Soon to be Mrs. Murphey *~*, on October 13, 2010 at 7:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

Ok this is so silly.... does anyone know what size a gown translates into in inches? I saw a post on this the other day but cannot for the life of me find it! for example a 14 = how many inches and where are the inches.... I am trying to figure out if she took the dress in 1 inch what size would that be now?

thanks ya'll! :o) happy hump day!

I may be wrong but I think it depends on the designer. You gotta go to the designers page and view their sizing chart. It will have the conversion into inches. I tried on one dress in an 8 and another in a 4 so I think it really depends on the dress. I could be wrong though.....

So in my instance I need the following....

For size 14 the measurements are a 39 bust, a waist measuring 30.5 and 42.5 hips. The shoulder floor measurement is 59.

I need to make that an 8 in the bust 10 for comfort in the waist I assume....

I believe that measurements vary by designer. I tried to find the ones for DB for you and they don't seem to have it online.

Pooooo.... I guess my main worry was I was trying to figure out if she purchased it as a 14... and took the bust in 1 inch that means it is currently a 38.... from what I see above. and I am a 36 (bust) so I need to drop two more inches I suppose...

thanks for looking for me justine!

Hi, All designers have different measurements so be sure to check your specific designer. Then you have to order the dress size that fits your largest measurement otherwise it won't fit. After it fits the largest part, a tailor can make the rest fit perfectly.

Honestly, EVERY designer is different. Not just a little either, a LOT different. Some places had me ordering an 8, some a 20! NOT JOKING! Don't trust that online junk. Get measured for THAT dress.
