Would You Buy an iphone Instead of a Photographer?

Hi All, FH and I are considering buying a new iPhone or two (with the really nice cameras) and handing them to the wedding party to take pics and videos rather than hiring a professional photographer. Then, we get nice pictures and iPhones we can keep. Thoughts? Cyndi

If you are having a budget wedding and don't care a whole lot about photos go for it, but even the newest iPhones will not replace a professional photographer. Handing an iPhone off to your guests isn't that much different than putting a bunch of disposable cameras on tables. You'll get some great, amateur shots from different perspectives, but they aren't going to look anything like professional wedding photos. If you are fine with that being the only coverage you have of your wedding, by all means, you do you. However if you want professional photos you need to hire a photographer, not just buy an expensive photo taking device.

If having high quality wedding photos is important to you, hire a photographer. Photographers are artists with professional tools that can capture your day in a way that no one else can.

I have the new iPhone. My pictures look absolutely the same, except that I can make some edits. Unless you have a pro it won’t matter what they are taking the pictures with. I would 100% get professional pictures done. Also no one other than the photographer will be set up for all the right pics. You’d miss a lot

No! Professional photos are one of the best things you will take away from your wedding besides your memories! Photography & videography were the 2 most important things for us and I’m so glad we go both because so far, our photos sneak peeks and video sneak peek are the best things I own!

That's interesting actually ahah. Honestly I'd go for it. I've seen a phone camera in the hands of a right person, take amazing pictures

The $2,000 you'll spend on new iphones would be MUCH better spent on a professional.

Definitely a photographer, i would recommend to save money on some other areas of the wedding but not photography, u can never get pictures by iphone from a cousin or a friend as well as they are done by a professional photographer. This is a beautiful day that when you wanna reminiscence it you look at the gorgeous pictures of you and your spouse and not some random selfies !
