Would this combo be weird?

Halie, on August 20, 2020 at 11:11 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
My FH and I have decided on a courthouse ceremony to get married. We are hoping we can invite our immediate families to witness our marriage and celebrate after. We are trying to save money. There is a very unique wine bar about half a mile from the courthouse. Would it be weird to have a cake and toast there instead of dinner?

We would be getting married between 2:30-4:30pm. So cake/toast shortly after. (I don’t know the exact time yet) What’s your opinion between cake and toast verses early dinner? Dinner is honestly the most expensive part of the whole day (for obvious reasons).

I think that is perfectly fine ! As long as you’re hosting something

It's fine to have a cake and punch reception at a non-meal time.

I was thinking about it and I’m really debating between having dinner with all guests or just the two of us.

I agree with Melle, I think as long as there is "something" you're perfectly fine.

If you get married at 2:30 I think you should be fine, but if you get married at 4:30 then I would as a guest I would expect a full meal.

That sounds fine. Dinner is not a requirement.

Love this! I would be very happy as a guest to go to a ceremony mid afternoon then short walk to a wine bar to toast. I think that is a nicer option than many “cake & punch” receptions in backyards or requiring driving between locations.

There is what I was thinking! I assume most guests will I’ll still drive (at least it is super close), but I’m sure our wedding party will walk over with us for fun photo ops!

You do you! It’s not your respective families’ wedding. It’s y’all’s day!

I totally agree! It’s like a classier cake & punch reception and I think it’ll be fun!
