Would it be weird?

Emily, on June 29, 2019 at 10:49 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
My fiancé’s brother got married a few years ago and their wedding song is something I just can’t shake....id like it to be my wedding song, is that weird to have the same wedding song as my brother in law?

It’s not “weird”, but I wouldn’t want the same song. It wouldn’t feel special if it’s already a family member’s song.

What song is it? Perhaps there's another version that could differentiate. My husband was annoyed his brothers and his songs to dance with their mom was the same song and our wedding was a month after theirs. I wouldn't want to share the same song with my brother but If you don't mind and your husband loves it then maybe it's a non issue?

Not weird. Most weddings play the same songs anyway aha so if it is common it's ok.

It might be weird for your fiancé? Ask him.

I would be a bit upset if one of my sisters chose the same song as me. Or if I chose the same one as them. To me your wedding song should hold memories of your wedding not someone else’s also. Yes I know s lot of songs are used repeatedly but it’s not like picking your bothers song.

Yeah kinda weird. I wouldn't like someone else in the family having my wedding song. Talk to FH and pick one together.

It would bother me if my FSIL chose my wedding song as her own.

Talk to them first. I LOVED a song for my dad and I's dance, but asked my sister and she had used that so I found something I loved more with a little research. She had loved a different song for them, but one of my cousins had used it so she didn't. My best friend and I are planning our weddings together, and we're constantly checking with one another to make sure we don't chose the same songs for stuff.
It's kind of a know-your-crowd thing, if you are 100% sure they'd be okay with it, that is one thing. But better to ask and have to do something else, then just use it an cause uproar.

It’s not weird if it really feels like your song. Definitely see if there’s another version of the song done by another artist. But In the end it’s your wedding, you can’t help what you like.

I would find this weird. That's usually something special to the bride and groom so he and his wife might find it odd. Even if you ask, what are they gonna say? They'll be fake nice and say it's fine.
