Worried about Usps, font choice

Selena, on June 25, 2019 at 3:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22
So I addressed and stamped all my RSVP envelopes, but I am worried that the numbers aren't clear. Should I try to make it more clear? Redo them? If so is there an easy way to remove stamps (the sticker kind)... Also what do you think the number says....

I first glanced and saw 1840 but looked again to see 1340. It should be fine, but it you’re nervous you could redo them. I personally would just wait until the rsvp deadline and reach out to whomever is left but that’s just me

I think it says 1340. I don't think you can easily take off stamps and try to redo them. I would roll with it.

Looks like 1340 to me. Do you have a return address sticker or stamp so that at least your return address will be very clear just in case?

These are the RSVP cards that need to come back to us. So the return address would be our guests.

I'd try to make the address as clear as possible. We used cursive for names, but a bold clear font for addresses. We put our return address very clear, and only one got returned.

I'm from a small town and the post office has delivered mail on many occasions to

    Mandi Lastname
    Town Name, State 12345

Without any sort of address. So I think you'll be fine.

Haha — in the small town where I grew up, I once got a piece of mail that was addressed to
me but with the wrong street and NO number . Still made it just fine (though I cracked up receiving it).

...that said, In my current apartment in a big city, we’ve had mail get returned to sender just because the apartment number was left off 🙄. So, I would advise considering circumstances — one thing to consider OP, is there even an 1840 building on your street? If NOT, I wouldn’t sweat it at all. If there is, I might consider just adding a teeny dot of White Out onto the 3 on any that you’re especially concerned about

But, I do think it looks like a 3, and PPs are right that it’s the post office’s job to scrutinize addresses all day every day, so I’d try not to stress it too much. I certainly personally wouldn’t bother redoing them all!

I think they're fine. you may get a few returned to you, but I would just put them in a bigger envelope and try again. I addressed my invites in a similar way and had 2 out of 200 not make it.

It could be a bit hard to read. I had to read it closely to get that it's 1340

The post office has a system to read both fonts and hand written mail. As long as they mail first class which is the standard forever stamp you should be fine.

Yeah I have debating, mixing some grey paint to match the envelopes, and putting a dot, so it is clearly a 3. But there are 80 of them to do. 🤦

You can actually still make the return address yours to ensure they get to you. I would print labels or use a stamp for the return address and use your own address.

You could always take them to the local post office and ask if there will be any issues.

I saw 1840 at first glance. Now it seems like 1340. I think you'll be okay if they're paying attention.

I decided to try and make it more clear. Not perfect, but hopefully they make it back to me.

It has been bugging me for months, like constant anxiety about it, while it is no longer perfect, I can stop worrying about it now.
