Worried about the weather

Teri, on April 26, 2017 at 4:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I have been watching the weather like crazy the past few weeks. I will probaby continue to do so I the next two weeks because my wedding ceremony is outside. Throughout these couple of weeks the one consistent part was that it was going to rain, ugh! Temps I can deal with, but come on the rain, yuck. I'm planning on outdoor photos in the garden where we are going to be married. Our ceremony will be short and sweet. I'm concerned that my pictures will be ruined if it rains. Not sure what to do. Sorry rant over.

Get yourself a super cute umbrella for the photos! I have seen some absolutely priceless wedding photos taken in the rain. The lighting will be awesome. Even though it is not what you had in mind, try to embrace it. Could you slide rain boots on under your dress and have them sticking out in a photo? Remember rain on your wedding day is good luck

This is coming from a January bride who traveled the Garden State Parkway (NJ) to get to her Saturday evening wedding. By 3:30, it was gray, overcast, and the sky was throwing more wetness our way. It didn't matter. We would have loved snow covered, sunset photos, but we had an indoor plan, and we utilized it. Once we saw the church filled with people who drove through the weather to be with us, neither of us cared about the weather or the photo backdrops. We just couldn't wait to finish with our pics so that we could go to the party that all of them had already arrived at.

May? That's a far better weather crap shoot than January. Have a back-up plan, use it if necessary, and enjoy every moment of your reception. Weather be damned.

Looks rainy for my outdoor wedding and celebration for next Saturday as well. We've decided we are going to embrace our day- rain or shine, let go of the need to have perfection, and use our sense of humor. Still hoping for sunshine, but I won't let rain ruin our day!

I'm right there with you watching the rain but I have a back up indoor plan. Hoping not to utilize it but will if necessary. So far weather forecast are anywhere from 68-78 degrees and mostly sunny. Praying they're right!

This is literally the only thing that is totally out of your control for your day! Make sure you have a back up plan and let it go. Rain is good luck!

It rained on my wedding day. I was so disappointed because we planned an outside ceremony. We still went outside to take pics. Photographer kept watching out for periods of no to light rain and then we'd head out to take pics. Just make sure you have an indoor backup plan. I hope there's no rain on your day.

I have an indoor plan, but I guess I'll figure out decorations for it since it looks like that is where we will be at. I was so hoping for an outdoor wedding since this is my second and last one. My simple dress just won't be as pretty for indoor wedding.

It's been raining like crazy here lately but it could change. As long as you have a backup there is not much you can do other than wait and worry.

@Harley where'd you order those from? So cute!

OP, it's looking like 90% rain on my wedding day. What are you really going to do. Let it go, find cute umbrellas and boots and enjoy the rain. Some of my favorite pics are ones taken in the rain!

Honey, your wedding is over 2 weeks away and you've been looking for 2 weeks already. The newscasters can barely forecast 10 days out let alone 1 month. Relax. Get a back up plan INDOORS. This is not something you can control so don't drive yourself crazy.

For my wedding, I did drive myself crazy for the week leading up. I think I was checking 5 apps in total every 15 minutes lol. Guess what happened, it rained in the morning then cleared up and we had a beautiful outdoor ceremony. It could happen.

@OG Kathryn I do hope your right. We have had so many grey clouds in MN that I'm beginning to hate spring. I just want to see sunshine. I need my Vitamin D. Thanks everyone for your comments. Decorations for the indoor option is on the agenda today.

Have a backup plan and don't worry yet. Yu still have plenty of time, there's no way to predict the weather do far in advance

I live in MN too - to even look at the weather forecast is basically asking for yourself to get stressed. It has said for weeks that it was going to rain this Saturday, but now it most likely won't.

Just focus on things in your control and everything will work out!! MN is totally unpredictable with weather so best not to even check until a couple days before.

I have a couple of options. I could still have the wedding outdoors but in a band shelter or I could just move it indoors at our reception area. I have already spoke to them about it and they are ok with it. Thankfully my wedding is small about 20 people so it's totally doable. I don't have a picture of the band stand area but it is metal frame with large windows on three sides.

Have a back up plan, and really don't look at the weather until like the Wednesday before. It changes so much, no need to stress about now!
