Worried About Scar on My Ring Finger :(

Desiree, on January 2, 2015 at 7:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

On Christmas Eve, my FH accidentally spilled hot off the stove gravy on my left hand. I've always scared super easily, and now that my hand is starting to heal I'm super worried I'll have big ugly scars on my left hand.

In the past I've tired vitamin E on scars, but haven't had much success with it. Has anyone had success with Mederma? Any other recommendations?

Oh no! I hope it heals quickly and doesn't scar badly. I have never tried mederma.. Tanning helps me sometimes with my blemishes.

I am COVERED in scars from doing stupid stuff when I was younger. I say put some bacitracin ointment on it as it heals, then Bio Oil or Scar Zone, that has worked for me over the years. Hope you heal quickly!

Tanning does not help with scars, in fact it can make them worse. When I had surgery my doctor told me the best way to minimize scars is to keep it moisturized as it's healing. He recommended cocoa butter as well.

Idk if this is true or not. but a friend of mine's mother used to work at a derm. and she told me that the thing with mederma and such is that youre constantly rubbing the scar (1-2 times a day when you apply the cream) and breaking down scar tissue, so I've always just stuck with cocoa butter or vitamin e and really stick to applying it multiple times a day and actually really massaging it in. again, just what I was told, not a fact.

I had a burn on my finger a few years ago which gave me a blister. I used vaseline and that helped. keep it moisturized and clean.

I'd also recommend 100% cocoa butter since you're dealing with burns.

Wow, ouch, I'm sorry that happened. I don't have any advice, but its still a pretty recent injury. Just keep it clean and treat it for any infections and see what happens. I seem to scar too, but I think I just notice it and I'm not very good at keeping them clean, an issue with my line of work.

Maybe your doctor already prescribed it, but there's a silver cream that help with burns they can prescribe you. I accidentally burned the crap out of my hand with an iron a few years ago and after using that cream 2 times a day I had absolutely no scarring.
