Words spoken to eachother before the vows. What are they called?

Darleen, on March 30, 2015 at 9:38 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

We do not necessarily want to write our own vows but we do however want to tell each other in front of everyone who much we love and appreciate one another. Is this called something. I am trying to get ideas on putting my wording together. Again we are not writing our vows we are going to have the minister still do the regular ones.

It would be a statement. My FH and I are doing the same thing.

I want to do the same thing. Write three things I love about FH and vice-versa but have our Pastor say them for us. I don't like speaking in front of crowds and will be a nervous wreck. Saying the vows will be enough for me.

The section when I was writing our ceremony was words of affirmation. It's where you do repeat after me or custom vows.

Try searching for "Statement of Appreciation" or "Expression of Intent." I've been keeping a file of different phrases that I like for inspiration. I dumped them into a Google Doc for you:

@Darleen- I haven't searched for any examples. Our pastor told us it would be a couple sentences we write to each other confessing our love and dedication to one another. It's a time to add in some unique and personal touches, and then the vows would be traditional.

Well even searching example I am still having trouble finding them. When I search Statement of Appreciation" or "Expression of Intent, I am still coming up with mainly vows to each other.

What are you searching for exactly? Many folks listed what the section is called but if you're searching for personal thing to say to each other you don't need Google. You need your brain and your heart. You sound like you want to Google personal statements of love and that's dumb.

Wow AndixLyn have you ever heard of getting the juices flowing by reading other things. Not exactly using them? You don't have to be so rude. We are here to help each other and if that is the way you consider your self helping, I really would prefer if you did not say anything.

As I said many of us gave you the sections you'd look for Google will then also provide many folks versions of ceremonies. You sound lazy and unimaginative. Would you prefer we all post our personal statements so you can get your juices flowing? Think of your FH and that's what gets juices flowing. And again Google the sections we already listed and you'll see plenty of ideas.

It's the Internet and I can share my opinion anywhere I see fit. Including a post asking for input. Maybe take the input given to you.

Good luck faking your vows Darlene. Hope someone inspires you to feel genuine.

Maltese was right. If you aren't looking for vows you're looking for a statement of affection aka a conversation. Something you feel. Say something genuine. How are you needing to google "how do I say how I feel about my fiance during our wedding ceremony"?
