Wording for Plus One?

Mrs. Captain America, on December 13, 2013 at 9:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I've googled a bunch and found lots of different results, but I love hearing what everyone on here has to say because it's actually real!

I am wondering how you go about letting someone know on the invite that they can have a plus one. It may be a stupid question but do you put it on the RSVP? On the envelope?

All of these different websites have varying options and contradict themselves. How did/will you do it?

I addressed it to "John Doe and Guest" on the envelope.

Find out the name of the date. The name is written on the inside envelope.

Hmmm ok. Jaime where did you put that phrase at, on the announcement card or rsvp?

I didn't use inner envelopes and didn't need or want my friends to tell me up front who they were bringing if they are single. I just addressed the envelope to Ms. Jane smith and guest

I wrote ----- and guest on the invitation itself. The outer envelope was just addressed to the person whose name I knew, and rsvp card was blank and they could write whatever they wanted (luckily most chose to write both names, so I only have 4 unnamed guests).

I did the same thing as Jaime unless the guest was married/in a serious relationship. In that instance, I just wrote both names on the envelope.

Most of our friends are in established relationships so we just invited them as a couple (by names). When we gave a +1, it was addressed to John Doe and guest. If there wasnt a +1, it was just John Doe.

I am address the invitations to blank and guest. My RSVPs will also say we have reserved blank seats in your honor.
