Joanna G, on April 28, 2013 at 1:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I have googled this BUT can't decide. I curently have 1. twelve o'clock in the afternoon but have also seen:

2. twelve o'clock

3. noon

4. twelve noon

What do you think looks/sounds best?

I would say either noon or twelve o'clock (pm or in the the afternoon)

twelve noon sounds odd but twelve midday sounds fine and would work as well

I found this one Cranes website:

My wedding is being held at noon. Should my invitations read “at twelve o’clock noon”?

Your invitations should simply read, “at twelve o’clock.” Unless otherwise noted, “twelve o’clock” means “noon.” If you feel strongly about indicating the time of day, you may use, “at twelve o’clock in the afternoon.”

I like the first one. I don't think you need to indicate which twelve o'clock. people aren't going to be showing up at midnight! haha

Lol I dunno Trena. I might be standing there, listening to the crickets chirp at midnight in my dress, tapping my heels impatiently...'God where is everybody, they said 12 o'clock SHARP!'

Bahahahah! Dang, I better make sure my guests aren't arriving at dawn then, I only indicated four o'clock! Well, at least in my case, they'd be early! Smiley winking

Either 1 or 2. "Noon" sounds too informal. I would rather it say "12:00pm" then noon.

12 o'clock is neither AM or PM it is either NOON or MIDNITE. If it is one second before or after then it is AM or PM. At least that is how I look at it ...

Anywho .. I would say twelve noon, but that is just me.

I would just say 12:00pm, but we weren't very classy with the invites lol.

Go with #1 if you're trying to be fancy.

Haha, you guys have me cracking up. High noon it is! Just kidding... I think just twelve o'clock. Our reception cards will be in there and they are going to say two o'clock in the afternoon... so they can figure it out.
