Wording for grandparents who can't be there- but not because they are dead....

Shellie, on July 6, 2012 at 2:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I'd like to say something to acknowledge my grandparents on my mom's side who aren't able to travel to the wedding in the programs.

Anyone have idea for wording?

My grandparents on my dads side will be there, and FH's grandparents are all dead.

How do we differentiate from there, absent due to health, and dead?

I'd say some thing like this

(Your name) & (FH name) would like to acknowledge (your name) grandparents, (their names) as they were not able to attend today’s events. (I would than say why they are important to you, things they’ve done for you etc.

If it was my grandmother I’d write this, but of course you should make it personal to them and why they are special.

Justine’s grandmother has always been there to help her grow and learn, from taking her out to the cabin so she could go swimming to taking her to hockey games, and cheering on their team. She has always been there to lend a loving hand and guide her into the beautiful women she has become. Justine and Luke know that although she is not here today, Doreen is in her heart and wishing her all the best.

    I put on mine...

We are missing a few people at our celebration today, but they are on our minds:

    grandpa

    uncle

    aunt

Those watching and celebrating in Heaven:

    grandma

    different grandpa

    etc

Of course I put their names...I wanted to distinguish too since we each had several family members who couldn't attend

    Maybe?????

Those that could not travel to be with us today, but are here in spirit.

Those that are no longer with us, but remain in our hearts forever.

Wow, Haley, that was beautiful. I might use that second line in mine.
