Wording an email to MUA

Sara, on February 27, 2017 at 10:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for some advice for wording an email to our MUA. FH has a "groomsmaid" who has decided that she would like to have her hair and makeup done with the rest of the bridesmaids. Awesome! She asked me last night to contact the MUA for her to make sure that the MUA would have makeup for her. She is of Indian decent so has a darker tone than my pale-ass self and the rest of the bridesmaids.

How do I word an email to the MUA to make sure she has makeup thats also appropriate for her?

I'd send photos of all of the women getting make up and say "just wanted to make sure you have product to compliment the variety of skin tones" or something like that.

Good morning! Regarding our appointment with you on xxx at time, a note to let you know we have an additional person, a "groomsmaid" who has decided that she would like to have her hair and makeup done with the rest of the bridesmaids. Awesome! She asked me last night to contact you to let you know she is of Indian descent so has a darker tone than the rest of the bridesmaids.

Plmk at your earliest convenience if this will work out with your schedule and supplies.

Looking forward to our big day, Sara

I agree, basically what you've said here is perfect - "one of the ladies getting her hair/makeup done is of Indian descent and asked me to confirm with you that you'll have makeup for her darker skin tone."

I would simply say exactly what you've described slightly more tactful--- MY FH has a female in his side of the bridal party that would like to use your services and get ready with us. She has a beautiful Indian skintone and is worried you may not have appropriate shades of foundation for her. Do you provide makeup for a wide variety of skin tones or should she provide her own foundation?

I would be VERY surprised if the makeup artist didn't have foundations for all skin tones.

    good luck!

Simple is better: "Dear MUA, We have an additional bridal party member who would like professional MU. She is of Indian descent and would like to know if you have products that can accommodate her skin tone. Thank you, Sara"

If your groomsmaid wears makeup, it may be helpful to offer up what her usual shade is, since people of Indian descent can have a huge range of skin tones. So you could add a line "She normally wears Clinique Superbalanced foundation in Honeycomb."

ETA: Have no idea if this is a suitable Clinique shade, I just went with one that wasn't lily white!

Thanks! I figured the MUA should have a variety but since our friend brought it up I figured I would ask.

    Thank you!

My MOH is of Indian descent so I had to send a similar email. She actually hates getting her makeup done because she has run into an issue with color matching a number of times. What you and PP's have said is perfect. I would suggest that your Groomsmaid bring a sample of her makeup on the day of JUST IN CASE the MUA may need to match it or see what she normally works with. It may even help to email the name of a comparison shade to the MUA (Ie: She normally uses Smashbox Medium Beige) or whatever. THE MUA wont use the everyday makeup, but she can look to see what she has that is comparable.
