Won’t be using my bespoke dress, should i tell the designer?

Beatriz, on January 10, 2022 at 9:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
I had a dress designed and made specifically for me. The dress is beautiful but it doesn’t have the movement I had in mind. It doesn’t feel like is my dress. Decided to go for another option that I feel more comfortable with. The question is, should I tell the designer I won’t be using her dress?

I think this depends. Has the designer requested you send her photos wearing the dress on your big day? Or have you agreed to allow her to use your photos for her website (either verbally, or it may be included in your contract). If so, then yes, I would let her know you have decided to go a different route. If not, however, I don’t see any need to tell her, if you don’t want to. If she follows you on social media though, and will see that you didn’t wear the dress, then you might want to give her a heads up and let her know the reasoning behind it; that way she knows it wasn’t her craftsmanship, it was simply a personal change of vision for the way you wanted to look on your wedding day.

The only reason to tell the designer is if they were at your wedding.
