Wishing Rocks

Stephanie, on August 25, 2015 at 3:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Hey all! I am doing sort of a twist off of the typical wishing rocks. We got a bunch of rocks and wrote our names/wedding date on them. This is mainly for holding the programs down on people's seats (outdoor wedding), so we don't have to have a person handing them out. Anyway, I wanted to write something on the program that kind of tells the guests what they are for and that they can keep them!

Any thoughts on a cute way to phrase this? I only have this so far: "Please hold onto your wishing rock during the ceremony to wish Stephanie and Kyle your very best. Then you can take it home with you!" But that's not very creative......

Thanks guys!

I'm sorry, I have no idea what a wishing rock is and I doubt I would want to take a rock home with me at all?

This is a lovely idea. How about - Please hold onto your wishing rock during the ceremony to wish Stephanie and Kyle your very best. Then you can take it home with you to bless your home or garden as a reminder of the love we all shared today.

Yasminadlv is the poet among us! Maybe she will see this Smiley smile

I also don't know what a wishing rock is, so I'm no help. But I figured I would give you a bump.

I hope you're crocheting rock covers for favors.

To be honest, I don't think most people would want to take a rock home. Why not have a bowl to collect them at the end of your ceremony, then you can display them at home, in a garden, etc?

We are doing this too, but collecting the rocks at the end of the ceremony. If you are set on them taking them home make sure you find rocks that are interesting and/or significant to you and your FH so that they can at least appreciate the rock for more than being a rock. I am a geologist, and I understand that not everyone appreciates rocks as much as I do, but you can find ways to make it interesting and flashy for people Smiley smile.

OP, Mrs. A & J and Ekab: This is what I think FH and I are going to do. I think it's sweet and I always have cute vases around the house. I like the idea of using it for decoration and looking at it, knowing that those stones were in our loved ones' hands during our ceremony. I don't think people would take home rocks.

I love this idea! Never heard of it before. I think it's a cute idea to collect them and set them in vase afterwards. If you want people to take it home I think it must be a specially beautiful stone to take it home with you. Or maybe if it is painted I would like to bring a stone home with me.

Thanks all! I thought about collecting them back as well. Might end up doing that because I honestly wouldn't want to keep a rock, but didn't necessarily want all of them back LOL. I love the garden idea!

PS we are also doing a "real" favor....I'm not THAT cheap Smiley winking
