Winter Brides!!! What was it like taking pictures in the cold?

Rebelle Fleur, on February 24, 2020 at 3:16 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13
I’m praying for a uncharacteristically warm day in January for my wedding. Did it snow for you guys ? We’re you freezing trying to capture pictures out doors ? Should a get a fur coat/shawl ?

I was freezing and I had a pashmina but I wanted some pics without that. But it was only an hour of my whole life so I toughed it out.

I hate the cold !!! I’m going to see if I can maybe get a portable space heater and have it out of shot if it’s not too expensive. Your wedding pic is beautiful btw.

I'm worried about the same thing for next Feb. 14, so I'm wearing booties and a shawl, booties will be dyed to match my shawl and dress.Winter Brides!!! What was it like taking pictures in the cold? 1

It's going to be cold on Saturday with a chance of flurries (doubt it because we live in GA lol) in the morning. But I love winter, so I do not think I will have any issues.

Thanks! I was going to get the heaters, but they were like $100 each to rent these tall ugly mushroom things, and the rental company told me they only felt warm when you are standing right next to them, they’re not going to heat an open outdoor space. So I said forget it.

We're getting married in North Alabama Saturday, and the high is 44 degrees (low of 24). It's going to be cold, but I wanted to do a few pictures outside! I got a faux fur stole and pashmina scarves for my bridesmaids to wear!

My girlfriend got a long white fancy cape for hers and her pics came out amazing. We had small shawls but we had our pics taken inside the church and only her and her the groom went outside, it was new years even 2 years ago with a high of 10 degrees.

I just got married on 2/22! We were lucky because it was 40 degrees and sunny all day! We took our wedding party and family pictures outside before the ceremony. My bridesmaids and I wore pashminas and we were fine! It was cold but we all toughed it out for the pics. And honestly I was so hyped up on adrenaline(and sweaty from nerves/excitement lol!) that I barely noticed the cold until the end.

I would suggest a back up plan for pictures if the weather happens to be really snowy and cold. Maybe scope for some good places for indoor pics, whether it be at your venue or somewhere close. We had a cocktail hour after the ceremony, so our backup plan was to move pictures to then so if it was snowy, we wouldn't mind getting a little wet for pics after the ceremony!

You can't control the weather! so try not to worry about it too much. My best advice would be to have some kind of back up plan for pictures.
