Winning Mary Kay make up from David Bridal

ReneeEdward, on February 8, 2017 at 4:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I got an email earlier stating that I won a makeup collection from Mary Kay. The woman emailed me and said to email or call her back to pick up my gift. Apparently when you sign up on the Davids Bridal website for their free dress giveaways you're also entered to win stuff from Mary Kay. Has anyone else heard of this or do you think it's a scam?

    Everyone wins this.

    It's not a scam.

It is a sales tactic. You win a gift card for MaryKay products, usually $10 or $20 off a $40 purchase or something. They will invite you to a bridal event where you can practice makeup looks. You do the makeup on yourself, they don't apply it for you.

Sometimes the gift is different, I think it depends on the Mary Kay person that you "win" from--you might get some free product outright.

The gift card is only worthwhile if you already buy MK.

I wouldn't have a MK person do my make up. They generally aren't licensed and quite frankly most of their make up is awful.

I'm having a MUA that I know do my makeup. She's a former coworkers daughter (so not a friendor) and I've used her for other gala's/parties.

I'd pass on it. I do love their skin care, but the training is minimal.

What AMW said, We went for the "pampering day" we applied all makeup ourselves and it was a super high pressure sales pitch

Oh, yea, similar situation with me. I had to put my name and email down to get into a Bridal Show, and I got an email saying that I won a free MK facial and makeup. What they did not tell me was that it was just a sales pitch. I got stuck watching the pitch, and my free 'makeup' was a $30 dollar voucher for any of their products. FYI none of the products offered were less than $50. Its a waste of time.

    I wouldn't do it.

As a former MK sales rep, I agree don't do it. It's just another tactic to get you and a bunch of friends together for a sales pitch.

I got this email too. Straight to the trash folder. They are trying to sell you makeup. The "freebie" is the coupon or hook to get you to buy more products.

I got this too. I got one email and that was it. In the past, I've tried MK products and they just aren't good, IMO. I'd say pass on it.

Everyone "wins". It's a sales tactic to get you to buy MK.

Happened to me too. I got a $25 voucher. Of course I couldn't just spend 25 bucks. I did learn a decent tip about applying blush, though. Unless you actually like MK makeup and have an interest in buying it, I'd say pass.

Omg I fell for this. It was SUCH a high-pressure sales situation. I was kind of furious when I left. I figured there would be some pressure to buy, but my lady was ridiculous.

I got this too. But after responding to her email thanking her and saying I was interested she never answered back. Good riddance lol I sell Avon anyway!
