What red and white wines would you suggest for a June wedding taking place in the evening?

Chardonnay is great anytime of year and well-liked. For red, Merlot would be lighter than Cabernet and still popular. Pinot Noir is even lighter and still good (or a red blend) but may not be as popular. Oh! What food will you have? Ask your caterer what types of wine would pair well. Will you have champagne???? Great for summer.

My wedding was in July and along with Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio we had Vihno Verde, which I think is great for summer. We also had Pinot Noir along with Cabernet Sauvingnon and a Zinfandel for reds. For our signature drink we had a champagne cocktail, which was also light and summery.

Oh okay! For our meats, guests will have brisket and chicken breast, and no we will not have champagne. Thanks for your helpful suggestions!

Oh nice! How many guests did you and your spouse have? How many wine bottles did y'all end up buying? Were any left over?

I found this site really helpful. https://apracticalwedding.com/wedding-alcohol-calculator/

I had roughly 50 guests and a three hour reception, so I think we ended up getting 28 bottles of wine, plus beer and the signature cocktail. We did end up with extras that we were able to return. I bought more white than red, and the Vihno Verde was gone at the end of the night. Very popular, so was the cocktail.

I'm not sure it depends on the season, but more on what you're serving.

    - With basic brisket I'd pair a Cabernet Sauvignon. It's simple and easy to drink.

    - With Chicken I'd paid a Chardonnay or a Sauvignon Blanc (are the sides light?), maybe both if you can swing it. A Pino Noir will also be a good red wine for chicken, but a little light for the brisket.

It also depends on how the meat and sides will be prepared. Will it be spicy or really flavorful? If so then I'd pair a fruitier wine like a Sauvignon Blanc to counterbalance the spice. If the brisket will be prepared in a BBQ style with a lot of pepper I'd opt for a Malbec to stand up to the taste.

There really are sooooo many options depending on the food you serve and how it's being prepared. Can your caterer suggest any pairings? If not you could go to your local wine store and they usually have a specialist that can help.

Definitely will be looking up seasons to wine, but Rule of thumb is usually whites with white meat and seafood and red with read meat.

Hi OnCloudRawls! I think that the brisket entree will pair nicely with a Cabernet Sauvignon or even a Chianti! Just to clarify, is your chicken entre in a sauce or a specific flavor? This will help determine what type of white wine you should purchase! A good rule of thumb is to go with a semi-sweet white wine like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc! I would ask your caterer what they typically serve with the dishes you have picked out!

I had one of the groomsmen run out to get me my favorite day of our wedding. It’s Stella Rosa black, it’s a sweeter red and they also have a red, pink and rosè. I love the Stella Rosa black definitely my favorite

You can always ask your caterer for suggestions on what they would pair with the food!

I'm all about Rose' in June. I'd probably do that, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir.

I agree with this. Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio are popular options. I know a lot of people who can't stand Chardonnay and Merlot. If you want to go slightly heavier for the brisket, a Cabernet would be a good choice. If you also wanted a second white, Sauvignon Blanc is a good option or you could go with a Chardonnay. Rose is definitely a great option for the warmer months.
