I’m not a big red wine fan, I plan on having Moscato for white. What are your favorite reds?

Pinot Noir is a good, mild red. I would rethink moscato though, that’s extremely sweet. I’d maybe do a Sauvignon Blanca or Pinot Grigio since those are in between sweet and dry.

Try a Cab Sauv. Sooo bomb. Or a red blend is usually good for a person that doesn't like reds. Cab Sauvs made me a fan of reds over whites for life.

I love Moscato myself, but I would recommend a pinot grigio if you're only doing one white. Many wine drinkers aren't a fan of how sweet Moscato is, and pinot grigio is very widely liked. You can get one that is less dry with goid fruity notes and you'll probably still like it too!
As for red wine, I like a good red blend. They tend to be easier to drink than a straight merlot or cabernet.

I like Ripasso and Barbaresco but, they can be sort of pricey. We are doing 19 Crimes red blend for the bar. Its kind of our go-to table wine and it's less than $8 a bottle at Total Wine.

Cabernet sav is a good red. I’d rethink the moscato though. That’s more of a dessert wine because it’s super sweet. People don’t tend to enjoy drinking that with apps and dinner. I’d do either a pinot grigio or a Chardonnay as your white instead

I like Merlot. I usually drink with steaks, so the taste is growing on me!

I second rethinking serving moscato as your only white wine. It's just so sweet. One of my friends, an admitted wine snob, calls moscato a "children's wine". I don't agree, but I know many other friends who prefer a good sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio.

If you can afford two white, that would be ideal, but if you can only afford one, go with a mid-range white tastewise.

There are so many different red wines out there. Trying to find one that everyone loves might prove difficult! I personally love a Zin or Merlot. I agree with the PP, 19 Crimes red blend is pretty good. Although the bottle might look kind of creepy if you have them out on the tables! Lol

Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon are the two most popular, widely-available varieties, I believe. If you're only going to have one white, definitely make it Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, or Chardonnay. Most wine drinkers don't drink Moscato.

Thanks everyone, I was only picking Moscato because it is my favorite, so maybe I’ll add another white and one red. Not a lot of wine drinkers in the family, that’s where the beer comes in!

We actually just had our wine tasting last night! We decided on Riesling (mostly because that's what I drink and it's my day lol) and Pinot grigio for whites and a Merlot for red. I don't drink reds, so I brought FMIL along to pick that one. Going in we planned to pick the red blend or Cabernet but ultimately she liked their house Merlot better.

Cabernet, Pinot, or any red blend are crowd pleasers. I would add another drier white wine like other posters have suggested. Not everyone loves Moscato, though some do Smiley smile

For reds I would choose a pinot noir of cabernet sauvignon. I agree with everyone who suggests rethinking moscato. I honestly don't think many people like it...much too sweet.

I love moscato but I like this better. It’s red. It’s a semi sweet wine

I would definitely add a pinot grigio to your white wine list. Moscato is extremely sweet, and not everyone likes sweet wine. I think you'd be good to use a pinot noir for your red or a red blend.

Red blends are always a good, safe option. My two favorites which are cheap, yet tasty are 19 Crimes and Apothic Red. I plan on doing one of those with a chardonnay. Can't go wrong with either! Also, I love moscato, but a lot of my friends don't. Might be a good idea to have that along with a more buttery wine.

Moscato is something you buy in cans from CVS to drink at the beach. I'd go with a Chardonnay or Sauv Blanc.

Chardonnay is a safer white. But if you love Moscato, get fewer bottles or consider offering a less-sweet white for guests. Cabernet is a great choice for a red, or a blend.

Yumm, Riesling! I started off drinking Moscato (as most white wine drinkers do) and have landed on Riesling as my fave. Not too sweet but a happy medium!
