You do not need personalized wine glasses. I think you are talking about favors. They can be anything you want or nothing at all

Are these for favors or for drinking out of?

If favors, no they're not necessary. If for drinking out of, plain wine glasses are fine for guests. Most people don't even keep the wine glass with the bride/groom's names and date on it.

I guess I am thinking favors, because all the weddings I went to I was able to take them home. Which I use for anything but wine because my FH and I are not wine drinkers.

No. Plain old wine glasses are just fine. I wouldn't use a wine glass at home with someone else's name and wedding date on it. Plus, I'd have to take it, which I wouldn't do.

Personalizing any kind of a favor is a guarantee that many people won't take it home. If I do, it will go in the donation box asap.

If you are serving wine, your venue or caterer will provide the glasses for guests to use at the wedding.

I was thinking of adding personalized wine glasses to my long list of DIYs, but then I realized, why? I think everyone will know we are the bride and groom and I don't want to keep them, so why not just use the same glasses as everyone else. I say if you want the keepsake, go for it, otherwise...meh

@Mrs. Fall Bride, the only reason I am thinking about having the vases done is because my FMIL said before we even really started to plan that she would make the wine glasses. So we thought ok that is fine if she wants to. But as I think about it more I do not know why we even need them! So I was just trying to figure out something she can still do. There is a lot of drama going on right now between my FH and his mom so I do not want to create more.
