Wine box/love letter

Alli, on September 10, 2019 at 9:57 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
Starting a new thread, all the ones I found were over a year old.

Is anyone else doing a wine box/love letter during their ceremony? We just got our box in and I am so excited! I love getting our little extras in the mail.

We plan do each write a letter and place it in the box during the ceremony. We won’t read them yet, a close family friends daughter will be in charge of them and bring them up when the time comes during the ceremony (not sure exactly when.)

Typically it says to open the box on your first fight. We don’t want to plan on a fight. That seems silly even though we know they happen...

Instead, we will read our letters, enjoy our wine, and eat our wedding cake on our first anniversary!

I've never heard of this until now, but I love this idea! Where did you get your wine box?

We are doing something very similar. My FH is making our box since he is into wood working and very talented! We will not be adding a bottle of wine, so our box will be smaller. We plan to ask our parents to write us letters as well. FH and I will write letters and exchange/read them the day of our wedding and then place them in the box with our parents letters as part of unity ceremony. We plan to "open" on our 5 or 10 year anniversary.

I got it from the etsy shop Modern Silo! We needed something extra since we are doing a non-religious ceremony, I want it short but not 10 minutes short Smiley laugh so this felt like a good addition!

Aw that is so sweet and will make the box just that much more special!! I love that your parents will write letters as well. We might need to steal that idea! It's going to be hard to resist reading the letters for one year, I don't think I could make it 5 lol!

Steal away!! Fortunately for us we are reading ours the day of the ceremony and then waiting 5 years, haha! We figured by that time we would likely forget what they said completely and it would be like we've never read them!

We are doing this and plan to open it on our 5 year anniversary. The longer the better since you'll be aging the wine! We haven't decided where in the ceremony we are doing this, however. Still gotta figure that out.

Friends of mine did this for their wedding. Along with the guestbook, they had a winebox for guests to leave additional notes for their 5th anniversary.

After the wedding, another friend's husband (he made the box) added a bottle of their favorite wine and mailed it shut.

They just had their 5th anniversary a few weeks ago. Smiley heart

I want to do one, but I'm having trouble finding a box I like that holds 2 bottles. We don't like the same type of wine, so I want something that can hold one for each of us.

Thanks! We ended up deciding not to put the wine and just do the love letters. I bought an unfinished wood box from the craft store, stained and varnished it, then switched out the latches for ones that would work with a small padlock. It looks identical to some of the boxes I've seen on Etsy for $50 and I think I spent $10 on all the supplies. It doesn't have our names on it, but I can always add that later if I want.

My idea is to have a friend make a vinyl sticker with our names and wedding date, add that on top, and throw a few coats of lacquer on top to seal it. I just don't have the time/energy to do that before the wedding. Only 3 weeks to go!!
