Wine and cocktails- no beer?

I recently asked my mom and FH what they thought we should serve for alcohol at the wedding. My mom thought beer and wine would be good. My FH said beer and wine as well, but he also said that basically no one in his family drinks beer. Actually, his family barely drinks at all and when they do it’s wine usually. I think it would be great to do a wine bar with a big variety of wines plus one or two signature cocktails to add some variety (and of course some non-alcoholic drinks). The only person I know who would be sad about not having beer would be my sisters fiancé. Would wine and cocktails suite you or would you miss the beer?

I feel like it might be a little funny to not have any. Are you buying your own liquor? I'd get a small amount, maybe a case or two of two different varieties. Get it from somewhere that will let you return if it's unopened. I think for a relatively small amount of money, you can keep everyone happy. You'll get bonus points with your sisters FH if you find out his favorite kind and stock that.

We'd prefer anything that's not beer or wine so we don't drink either of them.

I think we will end up with a small amount of beer, since FH says it is good and cheap in Mexico. We are also hoping to have cider as a light alcohol option, and I know a large number of my family LOVES cider and would definitely like to at a wedding. There is still tons of time to plan, so we can ask around and see what people’s preferences are. The reception is all about the guests, so we definitely want to serve what people want to drink!
