Wine and Beer Only?

Staci, on May 1, 2017 at 12:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

I need some advice. So our venue allows us to provide the alcohol so I'm doing an open bar all night. Originally I planned to serve just white wine, red wine and a few different beers. I wanted to stay away from liquor only because I would have to figure out what's needed as far as garnishes etc. Should I offer a "signature" drink for liquor drinkers or is wine and beer okay? If yes to a signature drink.. ideas would be awesome! TIA

Yes, please provide signature drink. I am not always in the mood for beer/wine so I would appreciate it.

Wine and beer alone is just fine. But if you can swing a signature drink, I say go for it! I'd recommend something that can be pre-mixed by your bartenders, or that can be made to order very quickly. I'm always in favor of a good champagne cocktail, personally. I really want to make these soon:

Wine and beer is fine, but a signature cocktail or two would be much appreciated? What do you two like to drink? Could you come up with a "his and hers" drink?

My signature drink is made with mascoto and raspberry sherbet. A non alcoholic version is ginger ale or sprite with the sherbet. Yummy

@sleepytheDwarf I love champagne and that recipe sounds delicious! @Taylor that's a good idea having his and hers. Mine would obviously be sweeter and his probably something with Jack. Thanks ladies!

Beer and wine is absolutely fine. Signature cocktails can be a lot of though. I'd pick 2 different liquors (maybe whiskey and vodka) and offer a signature cocktail for each. To save money, pick cocktails that use the same mixers/juices.

Beer and wine is fine. That's what we are doing for the alcohol portion for drinks.

I personally stressed so hard about picking a signature drink that finally I just decided to cut it out! We ended up with just beers and wines. We did a couple of different beers including some from local breweries. We also did two different ciders. We also included a rosé with our whites and reds. Nobody complained and people seemed to drink plenty! Basically we just tried to have a good variety of what we did have! (ETA words, clicked to soon!)

Having beer and wine is totally fine. My venue also has a daiquiri bar so you may want to look into renting a daiquiri machine and offering a few flavors.

Beer and wine is fine. Your plan sounds great, but I would add the signature drink.

My first wedding was beer and wine only. The venue made some good choices for me as I'm clueless about how to pick beer and wine to go with food, and we got a lot of positive feedback from my family of wine snobs.

I have been pondering the same question. But I would definitely do a signature drink. I think it is more memorable.

Beer and wine are just fine, maybe sangria mix too.

Sig drinks; the most popular ones I see now are Moscow Mules, Manhattans and anything with bourbon.

We are doing beer and wine only! I don't want guests to get shit faced. If you want to do liquor i suggest 1 or 2 sig drinks. This avoids needing 100s of $$ worth of alcohol and garnishes

We're doing beer and wine, and a mimosa bar for cocktail hour. I think since your wedding is in feb, vodka cranberry could be really festive and wintery!
