Will this timeline work with the shoe game?

Marissa, on September 29, 2020 at 3:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15

So we only have the venue from 3pm-10pm and we're not doing any big group dancing or spotlight/parent dances, only our first dance.

My main question is about the reception timeline and if the placement of the first dance, the shoe game, and then cake cutting seem good? Or I'm not sure if I should switch those around?

4PM - Ceremony

4:30PM-6PM - Cocktail Hour

6PM - Reception begins, dinner is served

6:45PM - Speeches & Toasts

7PM - First Dance

7:10PM - The Shoe Game

8PM - Cake Cutting, dessert is served

9:30PM-10PM - Send off and goodbyes

It looks good to me. Another option would be, if you had the cake cutting first and while people are eating their cake that's when you do the shoe game.

I agree with PP. I’d cut the cake first so people can eat while you’re playing the game.

I agree with PP, and that’s what I’m doing. I’m doing the cake cutting first and then playing the shoe game. What do you plan to do between 8 pm and 9:30 pm (after the cake cutting or shoe game and before send off)?

Yeah I was thinking that as an option too!

Thanks! Yeah I also thought about that option too!

And that would just be time for guests to mingle/chat with each other while eating dessert. Not sure what else to do haha.

Okay do you think this timeline makes sense?

    6PM - Reception Dinner

    6:45PM - Speeches & Toasts

    7PM - First Dance

7:10PM - Cake Cutting, dessert is served

    7:20PM - The Shoe Game

    7:40 - 9:30PM - Guests can mingle/socialize

    9:30PM - 10PM - Send off and goodbyes

That should be fine. Do you not plan on having dancing?

Will there be any music? It might get awkward to mingle for over an hour during cocktail hour and then again in the night.

Thanks! No we don't really plan on it. We're only having about 22 guests: parents, siblings, and the wedding party with their significant others. But we will have some background music going, and if guests choose to dance, the option will be there.

Yeah that's true, there will also be cornhole and live musicians playing during cocktail hour, but for the end of the night idk what else to do haha. We're not doing any of the traditional tosses. There will be background music with a Spotify playlist. We're only having about 22 guests: parents, siblings, and the wedding party with their significant others, so not very many people going, but if guests want to start dancing towards the end of the night, the option will be there. 🤷‍♀️

I am a planner, and I wanted to remind you that it will take around 10 minutes to cut the cake into pieces for the guests. Otherwise, the timing sounds great Smiley smile
