Will this guest book work with a smaller guest list?

Marissa, on August 14, 2020 at 2:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So I bought this guest book earlier this year, hoping to use it with my guest list of about 40-50 people. It's a beautiful photo frame with lots of space to sign the matte. It's 14" x 14" and holds a 5" x 7" photo in the middle. But because of COVID, we recently cut our list to about 20-25 people (6 households attending). Now I'm wondering if this will be too much space for that small amount of signatures? Would guests even sign it, or should I think of another idea? If guests do sign it, I think it'll look weird with only like 5-6 signatures, so now idk...

I really wanted to use this though because it'll be something to hang on my wall after the wedding, and my future in-laws have a similar frame with their wedding photo and lots of signatures hanging in their hallway, and I love seeing it every time I walk by it.

Also we won't be having a larger celebration next year. Maybe an anniversary party in the future once COVID is long gone. But who knows when that will be. Maybe just save it for that? What would you guys do?

My hand and a pen for size reference:

With 25 people I think it’ll look fine! If anything you can ask people to sign largely aha

I think it would work fine! If you still feel like there's too much empty space after everyone signs it, you could always add stickers or mini pictures from the day or draw wedding-related images on it (or hire an artist to draw something in the blank space). You could also have one half of it (maybe the top half?) reserved for artwork/drawing/a cute quote and have guests sign the other half.

Yes that would easily work. Excellent idea! For the display while it's being signed, you can fram your invitation or an engagement picture. Have parents and attendants sign it at your rehearsal to get the ball rolling so people know what to do. Also your dj can remind guests to sign it.

We bought wall art to use for ours and we are asking everyone to write us a short message on the panels. Even if it’s just “congratulations,” it’ll take up more space than just a signature. You only have 6 families, but presumably each will write all of their names rather than just the one who is signing. I think it’ll be fine!

I think this is perfect for that many people because they can really write wonderful pieces about you and FH and expand what they want to give to you advice/well wish, etc. This is such a wonderful idea!!

We needed up having 35 people and did a puzzle. Everyone was pretty good about spacing their messages out and it didn’t look weird at all!

Oh yeah I guess the more space the better, so people can write even more! Thank you!

I think this will work great. You don't want it to be too cramped. Plus, some people may write a well wish with their signature!

If you think there is too much room, write your future last name under or over the picture with the wedding date to dress it up!
