Will they be able to hem this dress??

Spring Bride, on January 7, 2020 at 11:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Can this dress be hemmed? The woman at the shop said to make an appt 4 months before but I’m just realizing I don’t know if they can shorten the length because of the design. Does anyone have experience with this ?Will they be able to hem this dress?? 1

They should be able to. My dress had lace all the way down. The seamstress had to take off the lace appliques and then resew them once she hemmed the dress. It looked perfect, but I imagine it wasn't an easy job.

It typically costs more because they have to take the appliques off and then sew them back on, but it's definitely possible. It's a beautiful dress!

The bodice of my dress is completely covered in lace & beading. My seamstress took the appliqués off where she was taking it in and resewed them back on. It’s possible; just something that’ll cost extra. My alterations costs weren’t bad, though!

Your dress is gorgeous, I was considering a very similar dress, and I would have needed hemming, but they said they just remove the appliques and resew them, I didn't end up buying that dress, but it can definitely be done, it may cost more in alterations charges!! and I would allow 6-7 months, sometimes there are delays getting your dress back from the seamstress! Good luck!

It can definitely be done but it might be more pricey than a traditional hem. just make sure whoever you go to is experienced with things like this!

It should be possible they will just have to take off everything and sew it back on. It may be pricey

Yes absolutely. My dress has a bunch of lace and floral appliqués and my seamstress had no issue hemming my dress.
