Will my mermaid dress be easy to dance in?!

Will my mermaid dress be easy to dance in?! 1
I just bought my dream wedding dress! But now I'm so nervous it may be too hard to dance or move in. I haven't had it altered yet, so I'm hoping that will make a difference! Does anyone have any advice about mermaid dress dancing or tailoring!?

Your dress is beautiful! To me it looks like your dress is a mix between a mermaid and a fit and flare which is a good thing because that means there's some room to move! From the looks of the picture it looks like you have some space to move your legs, like where the tulle starts. If it's not totally fitted all the way down you should be fine. I too had that fear but I've seen plenty of brides get down in fitted fitted gowns! You probably won't be able to go into a full blown dropping it lol but you will definitely be able to dance around.

As long as it isn’t TOO tight around the thigh area I think it’ll be fine!

Omg I LOVE your dress. It looks beautiful on you! From the looks of it, I don't think it will. Idk how long your train is, but have you considered a bustle? I have a similar styled dress but my train is very long so I NEED a bustle. Other than that, when you get a chance, walk around in it, do the sit down test, etc. To get all the worries out of your mind.

Oh my goodness - that dress is beautiful on you Mackenzie!! Smiley love

How comfortable did you feel sitting down and walking around in the dress? You may have to take smaller steps than in a looser style, but as long as you've got some movement you'll be ok!

This article has specific tips for your first dance, but definitely applies to all dancing in your wedding dress Smiley shame : Here's How Your Wedding Dress Style Affects Your First Dance.

This is such great advice! And yes I will be adding a bustle, which will help because I will more than likely ditch the heels for sneakers for the reception!

Thank you so much for this! I haven't received my dress in person yet, so I'm sure I'll have a better peace of mind then! I've just read so many articles about how hard mobility could be in a mermaid dress, I had to ask the experts!😉

I agree you look beautiful in your dress. When you have your alterations appointment, just make sure you can move/sit/dance comfortably and you'll be fine. One of the first posts I read on this forum was from a bride who never tried sitting down in her dress after it was altered. When she was standing, it fit perfectly! It wasn't until the wedding party got onto a trolley to go take pictures after the ceremony that she realized her dress was so fitted that she couldn't sit down (she put her dress on at the ceremony venue, so she'd never tried to sit in it)! She ended up leaning against a wall to eat her dinner.... Luckily, she had a great attitude and found the whole thing pretty funny, but after that, I made daughter sit down in every dress she considered! Smiley winking

Try moving around in it (usually before you buy) to see what restrictions if any you have.
