Widen/lengthen sleeves?

Lalaluna, on January 4, 2018 at 12:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
When I first started looking for a dress I wanted an Art Deco style with lots of silver beading and flutter sleeves. Due to costs and being unable to find anything I like I ended up with a different dress which I’ve been second guessing. I’m really uncomfortable about my upper arms and I’d love them covered. Do we think it’s possible to extend the sleeves on this gown to be more of a cap/flutter sleeve to give my arms more coverage? Anyone have any similar alterations done? I don’t want to look TOO modest because the neckline is already high but I definitely want to feel comfortable too! I’m about 5ft so I’ll have lot of fabric from the alterations. The first pic is of my dress and the next pics are sleeve ideas. I’d love to see your pics if you had anything similar done! Thanks!

I think your dress will look great with sleeves like the last two photos. I don't think you will seem "modest" the higher neck line is a sheer fabric with details (not a turtle neck lol)

I like the simplicity of the second sleeves. I wouldn't want to detract from the rest of the dress by making them too ornate.

Thanks ladies! I also found this picture from the same designer of my dress, maybe a seamstress could make sleeves like this?

I think since you will have extra lace it should be easy. I would not however just add on sheer material because that made me look more Awkward and like you did just added on

This is a very easy alteration and if your dress is too long, the seamstress you hire to do alterations should be able to easily add fabric and appliques from the hem to make some sleeves for you. i think they would look lovely! i love the art deco/art nouveau style.
