Why do people think fake flowers are tacky?

I was going to go with real everything but my cousins gave me her leftover floral and I had time to create centerpieces during quarantine. I bought some burgundy flowers and greenery.

I still wanted real flowers for the wedding party and the bouquets so I finally was able to meet with my florist at Kroger (Covid19 had us postpone 2 months) and it turns out she can do my centerpieces for a price within my range! I already started on my centerpieces though and I’m half way done. Wish I had waited. But anyway, i was ok until I’ve heard fake flowers are tacky or cheesy so now I’m afraid maybe I’m just looking through rose colored glasses and maybe I should try to get rid of my centerpieces I’ve started on and go with real? I’m half way done..

I don’t think fake floral is tacky at all! Nowadays fake floral is so realistic majority of the time you can’t tell if it’s real or fake. I think that stigma is form back then when fake flowers were obvious!

Those centerpieces look amazing!!! I think people tend to think they are "tacky" if they look fake (not necessarily that they *are*). Yours look fabulous! Stick to your gut and just continue the way you want to! As PPs have said, people are going to talk no matter what you do so you might as well do what you want. People just like to be busybodies when it comes to weddings.

Those flowers are awesome! Maybe do a combo of both real and fake? When I was venue shopping, one of them was set up for a wedding later. The flowers were gorgeous I had to touch them to figure out if they were real.

Those are beautiful! I’m using a mix of both but centerpieces are fake. People should learn to keep their comments to themselves

As someone who used fake flowers in a summer wedding, due to cost *and* allergy concerns... don't listen to other people. They have their own motives, but those motives and words say more about them than you.
Besides, does this look tacky?

I prefer real flowers, but you have done a really nice job with your flowers! I would never call anyone tacky for using fake flowers.

They Aren't Tacky At All! Your Centerpieces Are Beautiful. I Personally Refuse To Spend The Extra Money On Real Flowers Just For Them To Die Not Long After.

I think it's a personal preference. Personally I wouldn't do fake flowers for my wedding BUT that doesn't mean I think its tacky. I've been to plenty of weddings where some of the flowers were fake and it looked absolutely beautiful. Did some people make snarky remarks...yes. Did the bride care...not at all!

I believe some fake flowers look tacky but yours look beautiful and you would only be able to tell they were fake if you touched them. I would sick with what you have made.

I've not understood the tacky comments at all regarding fake flowers. I have seen so many that look real, plus it's easy to keep them forever. The only time I could see them looking less than stellar (though still I don't think tacky would be the right word) would be the cheap early '90s or late 80's ones that my mom had around the house for scent. I think your flowers look lovely!!
Mine are fabric and sola wood and they are beautiful.
