Why do people have to opinionate?!

Anna, on September 12, 2019 at 9:18 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 8

Just need to vent. I feel like i can't say anything without someone saying something negative. I told my friend about something i want to do for the wedding. She said she straight out doesn't like that idea. She could have said "oh." Her wedding was back in march. Every time she would talk to me about her wedding, i would just listen. I didn't agree with a lot of things she was planning on doing, but i would just listen. I just won't mention anything anymore. My mom is the same way. She always shoots down all my ideas. I don't mind suggestion but to flat out say that you don't like that idea is so mean. It's funny how someone could opinionate on something that their not paying for. Just wanted to vent. Sorry for my long rant lol.

So sorry that's happening, it can be so discouraging. Just remember, this is YOUR wedding, not theirs. You can have your wedding any way you want.

SOOOO many people forget its not their day. Ive gotten so aggravated a few times cause it was like everything I said was wrong to them. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that!! Just remember it doesn’t matter if they like it or not. They aren’t paying and more importantly it’s your day and how you want it.. their opinion is irrelevant.
    Hope this helps a little😊

Have you just pointed that out to them? Sometimes people thibk they're being helpful, or they dont know theyre doing it. Just say hey, can you not shoot down something I'm excited about? Its really stressful when you do that

Unfortunately, you’ll just have to withhold wedding planning information from them. One of the best advice I’ve received is “if you don’t want to hear others’ negative comments and/or judgements, then don’t tell them your business.”

I am dealing with this too so I feel you! My mom asked me earlier if I was serving alcohol, I said yes and she hits me with “that is so stupid! Well then you don’t need your nanny (grandma) to say a prayer during the ceremony”. Honestly I am just so over hearing people complain. I dealt with it a lot with our menu too. Random coworkers complaining. It makes me want to snap back with “don’t come then!!” Anyway, I’m with you. I get it.

That happens a lot Smiley sad I'm sorry you feel that way, it could also help to just not disclose info to certain people who you think would be too opinionated

Yes i agree people have opinions and they have no filter and dont understand that it could be hurtful sometimes So I would suggest you take 1 or 2 different approaches.

1st - the next time they do that respectfully say " I appreciate your opinion but sometimes I'm not looking for validation I just want you to listen. Or Thank u for your opinion but FH and I really like the direction of our vision and Im just looking for support.

2nd- stop talking to the negative nancy's about your wedding.

Either way i wish you the best!

Ugh! I understand your frustration. I hate talking to people about the wedding, and we’re still 11 months out. I sometimes get dragged into conversations and have to try to change the subject.
