Why did you choose your bridal party?

I've seen a lot of posts recently with so much drama within the bridal party and it makes me wonder what made you choose who you chose to be in your bridal party? I've seen a lot of posts recently with so much drama within the bridal party and it makes me wonder what made you choose who you chose to be in your bridal party? I can understand drama here and there dealing with different personalities, but some of the stories I see, I just can't understand if you chose people close to you that want to see you happy and be there for you, how could they create such drama and nonsense?

I'll go first - I chose my MOH because she was my MOH at my wedding in 2004 and I chose her back then because she is my closest friend and I couldn't think of anyone else I wanted to stand up with me on my Big Day. We've been friends since 1996 and sure we've had our ups and downs, but we always have each other's backs. And the BM is her husband and him and my Hubby are close so choosing a BM was a no brainer and he's also our BM for our vow renewal. There was never any drama then or now (outside of MOH and her dress issue) lol. Nothing major.

    My sister was my MOH.

    My daughters were junior bridesmaids.

    Obvious choices. No drama.

I didn't ask friends because this wasn't my first wedding and I wanted to keep it small and understated.

Moh- We've only known each other for about a year, but I can be myself with her, and she is the first friend I've ever had that actively seeks me out for spending time together.

Maid#1- best friend from elementary school. She says she was surprised when I asked her, when I told her she was one of my oldest friends she jokingly/excitedly exclaimed "yes! Tenure!"

Maid#2- another dear friend from elementary school. We are terrible about staying in touch, but when we do get together, its as if no time has passed at all.

Maid#3- A friend that I completely lost touch with until earlier this year, and we reconnected on facebook. She was so excited that I asked her, and even though she live all the way in London she has been very supportive in the wedding planning process!

Maid #4- A former coworker that helped me get through the two hellish years at my last job. Someone who makes me laugh, and is meticulously organized. She'll keep the above four in line and on time when the big day comes.

Most important reason I chose all of these girls: I love them. They are true friends, and have shown a real interest in helping make my day as special as possible! I could not ask for a better group of girls to share my day with!

MOH is college roommate and sorority sister; matron of honor is my SIL; my sister, Highschool friend and all 4 of my future nieces are bridesmaids. I want only my orthodox sponor and the best man but FH wanted a few more.people so I asked the 4 nieces as.my FH is the youngest brother. I think it will be something they remember fondly as they grow up.

MOH - closest friend since college (15 yrs)

BM2 - close friend since college

BM3 - FH pick - friend since HS

BM4 - FH pick - friend since HS

GM - 4 of FH's best friends since HS

And (of course) BM causing all the drama is one of FH picks. Complaining about the dress I picked for them(until I had to pick another one). Now starting in about my colors. (I really just want to look at her and tell her I have another college friend and a sister in law that I could pick if she wants to back out.)

I lost the small wedding party (2 attendants each) battle cause he just couldn't cut any of his 6. (and when he tried to at my birthday dinner in Feb - the two girls had a FIT and insisted that they HAD to be in the wedding)
