Why can't I commit to this dress?!? Pics...

Ashley, on August 28, 2010 at 10:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I put a deposit down on this dress, but haven't been able to get myself to order it, or stop looking for dresses. I loved the way I felt in it, but looking back at pictures it doesn't seem as special as I remember it. I'm going to NYC next week so I think part of me wants to look there.

What do you think, should I stop looking?

The first pic is me in it and the other 2 are from the website.

Sorry I don't have a better picture of me in the dress, I went shopping solo so I didn't take many pictures.

I think you need to keep looking. It has nothing to do with the dress, but you aren't totally convinced that it's the one.

I agree. It's a beautiful dress, but there is a reason you arent sold- keep on looking.

I don't think you'll be happy until you look in New York. Then if you find yourself comparing every dress to that one, you'll know it's the one.

Don't shop alone take one trusted person that you like their taste and opinions, you are probably talking yourself out of it because you don't want to commit to the wrong gown. There really is no wrong gown if you feel great in it and you feel it flatters you then it is the dress!

I think that dress is gorgeous on you...but when you find the one, you'll know it. If you're going to NYC next week, go to RK Bridal. It's more like a warehouse than a salon. They don't take appointments (go earlier on a weekday if you can) and they have HUNDREDS and hundreds of dresses and they let you look through them yourself. It's a good place to go if you know the type of dress you're looking for but haven't found THE one. Take your time with it...I put a deposit down on a dress that I didn't end up ordering, too.

Thank you ladies, my fiance thinks I'm insane for not being able to make a decision. lol. I guess it can't hurt to keep looking - I will either find something I like more or (hopefully) realize I had the right dress all along.

@The Frog - I think it would really help to have a friend there. Hard to have a "moment" in a dress by yourself. lol.

@ Rosie - Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check that place out!

Honestly, I like the second one better, but it will really depend on your personality and the overall feel of your wedding. The second looks a bit more glam, while the first is understated yet super classy and elegant. Which one did you have a hard time taking off after you put it on?

Honestly, the first one. I didn't want to take it off, and once I did I wanted to go back to the store and put it back on. lol. I just don't get that feeling from it anymore when I see it...

I would go back to the store and try it on (the first one).

I bought my dress and had second thoughts. But then put it back on 3 months later and realized it really was the right one.

Our minds will always second guess ourselves. If you are thinking about it still, your heart is saying something. Maybe go try it on again and take someone with you.

Ashley, there is a difference between SEEING the dress and wearing it. I keep looking at the pictures of me in the dress I ordered and am wondering if I made the right choice. I just have to remind myself of how it felt to put it on. Go back to the shop and try it on again and I'm sure it will help you make the decision. But this time take someone you trust.

I was going to recommend RK Bridal too. It's a great place to see a ton of dresses without going through the hassle of making an appointment and all that jazz. If you go early during the week and in the morning, you can have the place practically to yourself. It can get pretty crazy on weekends though.

You've got a little time if you'd rather wait till next week to see what NYC has. It will still be there when you get back!

I like the 2nd one better. You look a lot more comfy in it. I tried on 19 dresses and kept going back to the one I couldn't get my mind off. I actually tried it on and KNEW it's THE dress. My mom and grandma made me keep trying on more, but I knew the one i got was the one. So if you feel that way about the 2nd one.. get it!

How do you put money down on something that you've not ordered? What are they doing with that money?

I am starting to think the second dress may be my dress! Every time I see it in Brides or any wedding magazine I absolutely love it. I was worried it was too similar to the first dress to be worth switching, but I think the difference in material (taffeta vs satin) is why I love the second dress so much.

The pic is the second dress, mikaella 1406, the sample I tried on had the pickups taken out. I am thinking of leaving the pickups and taking the flower off and using the sash in the second picture (the sash they used there was $1500!!!). What do you think???
