There have been tons of ladies posting that sh*t is hitting the proverbial fan with vendors and a very common "oops" on our part is that payments have been made in cash! Some don't even get receipts! There have been tons of ladies posting that sh*t is hitting the proverbial fan with vendors and a very common "oops" on our part is that payments have been made in cash! Some don't even get receipts! Am I the only one thinking, "what the..."! So why are so many of us paying in cash? Why not check or money order? Always leave a paper trail, always get a receipt! Even if your friend is doing something for you, if you pay them ANYTHING, get a receipt! Ok, end of crazy lady vent... End scene.

Lots of people on here (vendors included) don't understand that really, really, really really small towns, like mine, where the cake lady does it as a hobby, same as the photog and what not. Don't have contracts, which, I TOTALLY understand the concept of having one. There are just people/vendors out there where this hasn't caught up with them yet. And I hope it does soon! We paid cash for the cake and dj, but that was a little different, the dj was a friend we trusted 100% and we paid him after he set up the day before the wedding. The cake lady was also a friends mom, we paid her two days after the wedding (as per her request, if we weren't happy, she would cut us a deal). But I have to agree! Get EVERYTHING in writing and pay with money order or cheque or SOMETHING for a paper trail.

I didn't run into any that wouldn't take a check... and all of our balances were paid in advance of the wedding day (generally 30 days before). What I did find was that credit card wasn't an option in any of the cases (I realize there's overheard, but it also takes away the option to dispute the charges).
