Whom to Buy For?

Cathy, on July 21, 2019 at 2:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
So, I’ve purchased the favors for the guests.
ive purchased gifts for my bridesmaids.
I’ve purchased a gift for the host who is letting us use his place as a venue.
Who else do we have to buy gifts for? Are parent gifts really necessary? What about the gift to the spouse?
I’m basically almost going gift blind!
(Plus, the holidays are not far off!)

Are the parents paying? If not, I’d say no gifts are required. My gift to FH is marrying him, I’m not sure why a further gift would be required.

Gifts to parents aren't a necessity unless they're helping financially. Many people do prefer to still get them parents as more of a "thanks for raising me," kind of deal. Not typically anything extravagant, just a small token of appreciation.

Gifts for your FS are really up to you. It seems like this tradition is kind of dying out.

I don’t think these gifts are necessary, but I chose to do them. The gifts for my parents are more like your love has meant a lot to me over the years and now I’m starting a new life with my husband. My gift to my fiancé is like I’ve enjoyed our adventures and can’t wait to start a new chapter with you.

We're giving gifts to: bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl, ring bearers, parents, and FHs grandma. I'm also getting my FH a little gift as a "I'm thinking of you" since we'll be apart before the wedding.

While are parents are contributing in small ways, they're not completely covering the cost of our wedding. My parents paid the deposit on our venue and FFIL is covering our rehearsal dinner. For them, and FHs grandma, we'll be making them Shutterfly books once our professional photos come back.

I'm getting my FH a gift of cufflinks that I want him to wear just because I like them, but I don't think this is necessary. I am just always looking for an excuse to buy him things.

My gift to FH is a boudoir book but it definitely isn't necessary to give him a gift. We are giving both parents a large printed photo from the wedding of their choice along with thank-you notes to them.

So do I have to get a separate gift for my MOH in addition to her bridesmaids gift?

We are not doing gifts to each other. The wedding is enough of a cost. Our honeymoon will be a gift. We are doing gifts for the bridal party and our parents a small token of a gift. Later when we get photos back we will do a photo album or nice framed collage for each set of parents.
