Have any of you ladies ordered from this site before?? My baker charges $15 EACH gumpaste/sugar flower. On this website they're $18.99 for 16 of them!! I know I can't order now since my wedding isn't until August but was wondering if anyone has tried ordering from this website.

Nope. I make sugar flowers and you'll definitely pay for quality. If you don't care that much about the quality then try and order some. You can keep sugar flowers indefinitely in a cool and DRY location. I still have some from my wedding that look fine.

I would order a few just to check out the quality.

Really?? I really don't care only because they're going on a dummy cake, but I'm afraid these are going to look way too cheap - Is $15 each sugar flower (peony) a good price??

FYI a really high quality flower will be delicate, and would also have the texture of a real flower. It should look organic like a real flower and not like it was made in a factory. If it's coloured (I know you're looking at the white ones, but if) it would be dusted with petal dust or hand painted and not just a solid colour

To give you an idea, I'm a home baker but it took me about 3 hours to make each of my peonies. So $15 would be cheap if you look at labour. I'm sure a pro might be faster than me, but it would be definitely more than 30 minutes of work. Can you afford to juts order the box of them for $19 and if you don't like them then go with your bakers?

I could do that, but the way i see is - $19 plus shipping is like buying #2 from my baker (i only want #4 on my cake) I wish they sold them separately. Ahhhh i have to read their reviews to see if its worth it. Thank you LadyMonk!

Oh, ok. Personally I'd just go with the baker since you don't need that many. You could also ask her to make a couple of simpler flowers too (depending on what you have in mind for your design). Bakers are like florists, most of the cost is in the skill/labour.

With the shipping, you really wouldn't be saving all that $. I would pay the extra for peace of mind knowing your local baker can fix anything much easier than an online company. I also like supporting local businesses. It's in the best interest of all of us.

The baker I'm using orders from that site sometimes for her flowers. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. She doesn't make her own flowers, so orders from that site and one or two others. We are getting flowers on our cake - I'm not 100% sure it's from that site, but if it's not, it's a similar one - and while the cake isn't done yet (obviously) I have seen the flowers - which she ordered to make sure we liked them and is keeping them in her bakery. I thought they looked great. You can tell they're fake flowers, but I still thought they came out perfect. I guess it depends on what look you're going for.

We ask for these at our tasting. She said they are very time consuming, but I think she only charged us maybe $20 additional. She is home based also I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Have you thought about doing crepe paper peonies instead? You could make them yourself if you're crafty or order from Etsy or something. Probably cheaper, then you could keep them forever. Just a thought.
