Desiree', on December 10, 2019 at 9:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18
The vender that I’m going with charge 20$ per person to eat kids under 9 eat free.... should I do buffet or them choose from what I picked out when they get there? And how many should I pay for? I’m inviting 200 but I know not everyone can make it I don’t want to spend more than is really needed! What did y’all do for Yalls?

We picked buffet style that way everyone can get as much as they want and they have options. Our cater is getting a final count about a month out and that will determine our final cost. We only did a deposit. Smiley smile Are they asking for an exact amount now? Or can you change the amount?

I have to have everything paid 3 weeks before date and I need to know how many I’m feeding bc they make for that amount and I can have left overs but I don’t want to order for 200 and 100 show

Typically you send out an RSVP card with your invitations so you can have an accurate headcount.

When's the wedding? We invited about 320 and we told our cater that we may be around 200-150, but we will give the final amount a month out. People told me usually about half the people you invite actually come. Smiley smile

I would just let them know you are probably looking between 100-150 and you will let them know the final amount later. Smiley smile

If people don't RSVP then they dont' get a meal. I would track down the last minute people for up to 1 week after the rsvp deadline. Based on your headcount you should order food

Typically, you send out invitations about 3 months before the wedding with an RSVP request. You want to set the RSVP by date for about a week or 2 before your catering deadline. Most people will not be able to give you a firm answer of what they are doing 5-6 months from now.

Not half the RSVP but half the amount that you originally invited. That's what i've been told but our wedding is also out of state, so maybe that's why it they said half?

If there is no difference in price between buffet and sit down meals then i would choose the buffet. that way they have a variety of food and can make multiple trips.

once you get your RSVPs back you will know how many people you'll need to pay for.

Be prepared for everyone to show. Tally up replies a couple weeks before the wedding and get in touch with anyone who didnt respond. Caterers usually want your final headcount a week before the wedding or whatever date they tell you.
