Who to bring dress shopping?

Brittany, on June 29, 2019 at 10:11 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Ok so my first dress appt is August 31st and I’ve already called ahead to have them order a sample of the dress I have my heart set on. I originally wanted to go shopping with all my women super important to me (bridal party, mom, stepmom and fmil) however! My mom can be very opinionated and negative and passive aggressive with her comments and i foresee her getting under my skin and changing my dress to please her. My idea is to go out with my girls first and then when I find something I’ll bring my mom, stepmom, and fmil? Plus not many stores near me allow 7 people to come with lol

That sounds like a great plan! I would definitely try to limit it to as few opinions as possible, especially for your first appointment.

That sounds like a great idea. I did some window shopping by myself before bringing along my girls, mom and FMIL.

Great plan! I did most of my shopping myself. Go with your supportive girls first then you can bring all the moms back to see you in your top three favs—and say YES to your #1 dress. ❤️

Honestly the first time I just brought my mom. I ended up finding the dress of my dreams. And after I had already picked it, I brought my FMIL and FSIL (MOH) to see it. So glad I did it that way, as I could tell they didn’t love “my dress” nearly as much as one of the others they had me try on. If I had brought everyone the first Tim, my mind might have been swayed.

So maybe one one or two VIPs the first time?

I went by myself and I'm so glad I did. The only person I had to please was me.
    The consultants were very helpful.
    Good luck!
    Happy shopping!

That sounds like a good plan for you. I went by myself a lot and then brought a friend for a second opinion but didn’t want anyone in my family to see it until that day.

That's a good idea! Find a dress YOU love and remember what YOU loved about it. I went shopping by myself because I feel like everyone has such diff tastes that I didn't want anyones opinion to matter other than my own. But going shopping with them all does sound fun

I went with my mom and my 4 bridesmaids and found a dress I absolutely love but it also had to do a lot with their opinions swaying me towards it. I’ve decided I’m gonna go again by myself now and not tell anyone to try on a few more and then the one I fell in love with again to make sure it’s 100% the one!

I can say that the 4 girls going with me can read me so well they’ll be honest if they can tell I’m not feeling something! And they all know my style so well they collabed with my fiancé on my ring and they nailed it!

I only went with my mom. I could have went by myself as I don't want too many opinions, but I wanted my mom to experience it with me. But do whatever is best for you!

I had a boutique order the dress I thought I loved for a trunk show. I didn't intend to buy anything, but invited my Aunt, her daughter, my MOH and my mom. It ended up being just my Aunt and her daughter. And, I bought the dress I had ordered that I thought I loved...because it was the one I loved.

Word of advice - try it on last! That's what I did. Even though one other dress was gorgeous on me and could have been the one... the dress I wanted ended up being the one and it made it even more definite and special for me after trying on others first!
