Who should walk me down the aisle?

Tessia, on August 19, 2019 at 10:28 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
I’m getting married in November, family and friends will be there!! This is my second marriage after being divorced for nearly 10 years!! So my question is, do I ask my dad to walk me in again or do I walk alone?

What do you want to do?

I got married for the first time in my 40’s. Lived on my own for a long time and didn’t like the idea of “being given away” so my hubby & I walked together. Comforting & sweet. But you can meet him 1/2 way then walk together. Or walk alone. Your call.

I think that’s a very personal decision that only you can make.

You can do what you want. Why not ask your daughters to walk you down? It doesn't need to be a male.

Or walk alone. That's what I did. I saw it as a symbolic gesture that I was walking down the aisle as an independent woman confident in my choice of partner.

Have your daughters walk you!!! No one says it has to be a male escort!!

’m having my 8 y/o son walk with me, he’s so excited to have such an important role, and my dad totally agrees that the symbolism of having my son walk me is way more important than my dad. Plus it was crucial that he was included in some really important way!

I love the meaning behind you walking alone. My dad isn't in my life and now I feel a lot better about walking alone. Seriously, thank you.

With 3 it may be awkward just because of aisle width and the "who gets to stand closest to mom". I'd walk solo in your case.

We're each having our kids escort us.

I have been divorced almost 15 years and this time my son is walking me down the aisle. Her son is doing the same for her. They will also stand as our best men. You can still have your dad do it if that is what you want. I also like the idea of walking down by yourself if that suits you.

    I’m in the same situation.

However, if my Mom was alive, I’d have asked her to do it.
