Who should carry the end of a long veil?

Maya, on August 30, 2019 at 3:58 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
I will be walking down the aisle in October, wearing a cathedral veil. Who should walk behind me and hold up the end of my veil? Should it be someone from the wedding party? Could be another close friend?

I've never actually seen someone carry the veil down the aisle. Typically brides just wear it down and the MOH adjusts it at the altar. I'm not sure how someone from the wedding party could carry since they'll be walking down the aisle ahead of you. I suppose you could ask another friend.

I had a cathedral length veil and I walked down without any assistance. I’m not sure what is typical, but I will say that it wasn’t difficult to walk down without help. We were married outside and my veil didn’t get caught in anything, it also didn’t get dirty at all.

I’ve never heard of anyone carrying a veil. You just let it trail behind you like the train of your dress. It can be adjusted once you get to the alter just like your dress. I personally think it would look odd if you had someone walking behind you carrying your veil.

The only time I have seen them carried are extremely fancy weddings with extremely long veils, like royal weddings or priyanka Chopra's. I think if its the normal cathedral length or shorter, your fine without it being carried

Thank you for responding everyone! The reason I thought someone should do that was that I carried my cousin’s wife’s train when I was really young, along with another young girl. They didn’t have flower girls if I remember correctly. I’m starting to think maybe their family’s traditions are completely different.
