Hi brides! I know this may sound dumb but I’ve never planned a wedding before lol. Who runs the rehearsal? Is it the maitre d or is it the officiant? We were planning on our officiant be our friend but now I’m second guessing because he doesn’t know how to run a rehearsal dinner.
I believe the officiant typically runs the actual rehearsal, though the bride and groom could also lead it. The rehearsal dinner is up to the bride and groom.
If you have a DOC or a coordinator provided by the venue, they should run the rehearsal as far as lining people up, timing, etc. The officiant will just run through the ceremony scripting and any readings, prayers, unity ceremonies, or other ceremony elements you might be incorporating.
We didn't have a day of coordinator or wedding planner, so me and my maid of honor worked together to run the rehearsal. We told people where to stand, line up, and figured out the timing of everything. Then our officiant ran through the script.
We got married at our church and they provided a coordinator for the ceremony. She handled everything for the rehearsal and say of including fluffing my dress/train before i walked down the isle. If you hired a planner/day of coordinator they will handle this. If your venue doesn’t have something like this, maybe enlist the help of a parent or close family member to assist both at the rehearsal and day of.
