Who purchases the wedding bands?

Maria, on March 1, 2011 at 12:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

Does the bride purchase the band for both her and her FH or does he get her band too? (in addition to the engagement ring)

From my experience in my past marriage, my ex purchased my ring and I purchased his. But from how my FH and I are dealing with it now, we will be purchasing ours together...So, I think it's really up to you guys!

My FH purchased my engagement ring of course. I paid for his wedding band and he paid for one of mine. I have two bands (one to go on each side) so I purcahsed one and he paid for the other one. I could have gotten away with just one band, but with one on each side, it looks amazing!!! :-)

We are planning in going shopping together and choosing at least 3 to pick from for hers and mine. She'll get mine and I'll get hers.

We have pretty much already financially combined our lives. I used my card to purchase his, but since jsut about everything is joint funds- it doesn't matter.

I'm would assume ettiquette dictates you buy his, he buys your's- but who cares about proper ettiquette for this issue? Do whatever you two want- it's your lives.

I agree with Meghan. We are paying for our entire wedding. While we each had some in savings to fund it, we look at money as "ours", regardless of whose bank account holds it.

Fh and I have had a joint bank account set up for quite a while now. We each have our own accounts as well but a big portion of our paychecks go into the joint account. We already own a house together so we pay the mortgage, all of our bills, our dates and all entertainment out of the joint account. I really only use my personal about to buy clothes for myself or something lol, it's really turned into a savings account. So needless to say, we bought out rings out of our joint account as well. To be honest, I don't know the tradition...but from what other ladies are saying, you buy his and he buys yours.

FH designed and paid for my e-ring. We designed my band and picked out his ring together. He's indecisive about his own things so I don't he'd have managed to get pick it on his own. As far as my wedding band, we had a disagreement on cost given the cost of the e-ring, FH wanted something simpler for the wedding band - may take was that you wouldn't put cheap rims on an R8 and I was right, they look stunning together. Like the wedding, we're paying for everything as a team.

All money is "ours" so we paid for them together. I think old tradition states that Bride pays for Grooms ring and Groom pays for Bride ring, but so many traditions don't fit these days...

Well like everyone else said traditionally you purchase his, and he purchases yours. My FH bought my engagement ring and we paid for our wedding bands. We selected our own bands. Technically I picked out his band, because I wanted our bands to match, but he didn't realize it. The only choice he had to make was the total carat weight.

He bought the e-ring but the wedding bands.. well, we both paid that and didn't really distinguish as to who paid for what. We just made payments to the total amount owed.

We just picked out our rings on Saturday. In theory, we are paying for each other's rings but we financed it on the same card that the engagement ring was on. Smiley smile

I think it just depends on how you feel about it. your merging into one so what i have done is we go together and pick them out and we both pay for the wedding bands.
