Who pays for Flower Girl Dress?

Sarah, on January 19, 2016 at 1:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

My FH and I are having two younger family members be flower girls, but I realized, are their parents required to pay for their dress or is that something we do?

Same as the bridal party, the parents paid for hers in my case.

You can certainly volunteer to pay.

The parents typically pay. I'd just ask them what budget they need to stick around for the dresses. Most people expect to pay for the flower girl dresses for their children, or at least that's how it's always been for weddings we've been involved in.

I am paying for the dresses. It is totally up to you. I seriously don't think there is a right or wrong answer in this case.

My FSIL is paying. However, I'm letting her pick the dresses, too. She's sending me some to get an idea of what I like, but this way her budget is in her hands.

Like with other members of the wedding party, they (their parents) usually pay for their own attire. We had 2 flower girls that are sisters and their parents paid for the dresses - but we also let them pick the dresses so they could use them later. Our only stipulation was that they were white.

We ordered extra yards of the ivory overlay form my dress and my mom is making the flower girl dress. We went through a bunch of patterns and picked the pattern we love, and her skirt will match my dress.

We are paying for the flower girl dress but it's because we have something specific in mind and my MIL is actually going to make one for her Smiley smile

I believe the parent's shoukd pay but I am paying for my nieces. My brother and SIL have 3 kids and just had a baby yesterday so I didn't want to burden them. Plus, I ordered it right around Christmas.

From what I understand the parents pay for it, but may be best to discuss it all with the parents either way. Though I think this is a pretty standard way to going about it, I've heard more than once from upset parents about how they didn't know they would be expected to pay for the kids attire. Might be a good idea to give them a heads up just in case

We paid for FG, RB, MOH, and BM attires because we wanted them to wear specific clothing/colors. I think bride and groom should always pay for the flower girl and ring bearer attire.

Her parents are paying, but I gave them plenty of leeway to pick something they wanted for her.
