Who is taking down the decorations for your wedding?

Gina, on September 30, 2021 at 10:55 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 11

I have a Day of Coordinator but we have her for a limited number of hours from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. (to cover decoration set up before the wedding and all of the "scheduled events" during the day before she leaves). Our wedding is at 5:00 and we don't have a specific end time since our venue doesn't close until 2 a.m. If you're in a similar situation, who is taking down all of your decorations at the end of the night? Our venue doesn't do this, they basically set up all of their things (all of the tables and chairs in the layout we asked for, bring out the food at dinner time, etc.) but they don't box up all of our stuff for us.

We booked a day of coordinator who was able to add that service (setup and tear down) to our package. Is your day of coordinator willing to add this service on to your current package?

Our venue is handling the cleanup for us, and all items that are ours will be put in boxes and held for us to pick up the following day (venue is a hotel that we are also staying at). I would inquire with your venue as to whether there is an option for you to hire them to also do your cleanup. You definitely don’t want to worry about doing your own cleanup after your event, and you don’t want to ask guests to work at your event. I’m not sure what kind of venue you have, but if they are not able to offer clean up services, then I would ask if you are able to leave your items overnight and do cleanup the next morning (either hire someone to do it then, or you may have to round up some volunteers to help you do it yourselves).

Our venue's coordinator did this for us, but the bridesmaids and groomsmen were fully prepared to throw stuff in boxes at the end! Tear down goes a lot faster than set up, so it wouldn't have taken very long for 5+ people to do it.

The wedding party is helping us! I feel like it should only take 30 mins to box up. Then we will pick it all up the next day.

Surprisingly, our guests took down our wedding decoration, which we were NOT expecting. One of my cousins asked me who was taking everything down (reception ended at 10, we had to be out of there by 10:30), and I said that were were, since the tableclothes, silverware, etc was all disposable, and we just had to move the other decor out of the main hall and into a closet for us to pick up the next day (the venue took care of the tables, chairs, trash, etc.). We stepped outside to tell one of our friends goodbye, and when we came back inside, that same cousin had gotten everyone at his table and most of my other cousins to get everything sorted. He even had the younger kids put the centerpieces in the closet.

Can you extended the DOC hours? You definitely do not want to have you or any guests/bridal party responsible for this. I don’t think you can hire a professional cleaner at that hour of the night but the DOC may know of someone if they can’t do it themselves.

Can you add on the extra hours to cover clean up? I would not ask your guests to work because they don’t know what is rented vs purchased and many venues don’t have staff equipped to do tear down

Our venue staff does this, but I was prepared to hire a coordinator to do if they didn't provide the service.
