who is supposed to get a plus one?

For me, I chose married, engaged and long term relationship couples. Then if I had any extra spaces I provided plus 1 for a few single people who confirmed to me they would like to bring a guest like a brother, sister parents or something. Single people did not get a plus one. Its a small wedding.

I'm having this same problem. My father's brother just passed away. Do I give his widow a plus one? What about his sister who is? We're only inviting close friends and aunts and uncles and I need to make cuts. There are still to many. HELP!

We had been dating three weeks when we got engaged. You can't define other people's relationships for them. If they consider themselves a couple, they are a couple. And both get invited.

I may be old fashioned, but I was brought up that anybody older than 20 should always get a plus one!
Now that I'm a widow for 4 years, I'm sure nobody would know if I was back out dating or not. I think it's still etiquette to do a plus one. If you still don't feel comfortable, just reach out and ask them . It's always nice to ask, it can hurt! I have 3 wedding this October let's see if I get a plus 1 !Karen.
