Who goes to fittings?

Concetta, on July 11, 2019 at 6:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hi everyone,
I wanted to know did you have your maids join you for your fittings? Honestly I thought I️t would just be my mom and possibly maid of honor but 2 bridesmaids have asked to come.... 1 is his sister but both who asked couldn’t make my appointment when I purchased the dress so maybe that is why they’re asking? I️ do not mind them coming I just do not want to bring everyone lmao is this rude of me?

You generally don't bring too many people until the final fitting where they will show your bridesmaids how to put you in the dress and of you bustle how to do that

It is common for the bride to go alone until the last fitting at which time she brings someone to learn how to do the bustle. Usually there is not a lot of room where you get your alterations so your bridesmaids may not have anywhere to sit and/or stand.

I went to all my fittings alone besides the last one where someone learned how to do the bustle.

My mom, grandmother, and FMIL went with me to the first fitting! I don't think it's rude to limit the number of people who come with you, though.

I don’t plan to bring anyone to my fittings until the last one where my sister (MOH) will learn to do my bustle.

I have 3 bridesmaids and I will invite them to come to my fittings if they’d like because none were able to come dress shopping with me like they wanted to

My mom, FMIL, and MOH came with me for my 1st fitting and my MOH and FMIL went for my 2nd (mom couldn't make it). I only had the 2 fittings. My MOH needed to come to the 2nd to learn how to do up the inner corset and the bustle. Otherwise, it was just nice to share these moments with people close to me.

For mine, I opened all of the appointments up (dress shopping, first fitting, final fitting) to whoever of my bridesmaids was available and my mom & step mom. Each one had mom & step mom, and then one or two of the bridesmaids. Basically whoever was in town and had the time available. Otherwise, they joined by Facetime or just saw some pictures after.

The final fitting I had my mom, my step mom and one of my bridesmaids who was kind of the "go to on wedding stuff" since she was the only one of us who had "been there, done that" with the big wedding a few years back. So she knew what questions to ask, to make sure to sit down, knew how to work the bustle, etc. It's nice to have everyone there for the oohs and ahhs, but realistically, keeping it small for the fittings is best.
