Who gets a welcome bag?

frommstoprys, on May 21, 2019 at 7:07 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
Hi everyone!

Quick question: are welcome bags only for out of town people staying at the hotel block, or am I responsible for tracking down out of town guests who decided to make other accommodations?? I am getting married on Saturday, and I have some out of town guests for my wedding who decided to stay somewhere other than the hotel block (friends AND family 🙄) and I’m wondering now if I need to go out of my way to find out where they are staying to make sure they get a welcome bag, on top of everything else I need to do between now and Saturday. What do you think? I’m really not trying to be rude but I don’t have time to be going all over the city to track them down, nor do I want to deal with making sure they get a welcome bag on the day of my wedding when I have **** other things to do. Advice please!!

thanks!

I thought welcome bags are for guests staying at the hotel where you blocked off rooms at. I wouldn’t worry honestly about providing welcome bags for guests who chose to stay elsewhere unless you really wanted to.

They are usually for anyone whop is staying in the hotel you blocked rooms with.

We only did them for our hotel room block.
If you're doing any sort of welcome party somewhere for all out of town guests you could hand them out there though.

I have always been under the impression that welcome bags were just for those guests staying at the hotel that you blocked off rooms at. I'm sure you can do it either way but I don't think you are obligated to leave a welcome bag at every hotel your guests might stay at. If you are wanting to do welcome bags, I would just stick to the hotel(s) you have a room block at.

Goodness no. Please don't run all over town delivering welcome bags. If you want to do welcome bags, drop them off at your hotel blocks.

We have two hotel blocks, welcome bags will only go to them. If they are staying at another hotel, airbnb, etc. they won't get one.

We gave them to everyone but we didn’t track people down, we just handed them out at our welcome party.
