I know the basics about who to invite to the rehearsal dinner - parents of bride and groom, wedding party, officiant, and out of town family... That all sounds great, but my family is HUGE.. and they're ALL coming from out of town. Right now, the count is at about 50 people. By huge I mean, I've got...
I know the basics about who to invite to the rehearsal dinner - parents of bride and groom, wedding party, officiant, and out of town family... That all sounds great, but my family is HUGE.. and they're ALL coming from out of town.

Right now, the count is at about 50 people.

By huge I mean, I've got 4 sets of grandparents (on my side), my parents are both divroced and remarried, I've got 5 siblings (all out of towners)... And then aunts, uncles, cousins... It just seems like a lot for the rehearsal dinner, since our wedding is only 110 people..

HELP!?

You don't have to invite OOT guests, but if you feel you want to you could host a welcome party instead and just have apps and cocktails. A lot of brides hosting destination weddings do this.

I have been struggling with this as well. We are looking to invite around 125 to the wedding. It will be about 2 hours from our hometown so everyone has to travel. My family would still have to travel if we hosted in our hometown but I still consider them out of towners. It's about 45 extra people (if they were to all come) and would put my rehearsal at around 80 people. The more I think about it and read through posts on the forums I am leaning towards keeping the RD small and not including all of that extra family. Plus that's what FH wants also. I am toying with the idea of welcome drinks or something else the night before. I am definitely hosting a brunch the day after so at least there's that. Sorry wish I could be of more assistance but I understand the struggle!

Maybe give your out of town guests suggestions on where they can get dinner that night ( no the same kinda food your having for wedding) i.e. Don't give them the great Italian place you guys love if your having an Italian wedding. And maybe after your dinner if your going out for drinks after let them know where they could meet up. Drinks aren't your think go to an ice cream shop or cupcake place or maybe an arcade if your not thinking food.
