Who buys the rings?

Lindsey, on October 27, 2021 at 2:51 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17
So who buys the Grooms ring? Most say the bride & brides family. What do you think?

I bought my groom's ring. Why would the family be involved in buying a ring?

That’s what I have read elsewhere; I’m thinking that the bride buys the ring; just makes since!

We're buying both our rings together and paying from our joint account, but we're also paying for our wedding ourselves.

Either you buy each other's ring or like Chloe said: the couple buy both rings together and pay for them together. The latter option is better because both you and your groom will love what you're buying.
As for the tradition:Who buys the rings? 1

I didn't know this - I think we just went and bought the ring for my husband together so he could pick what he liked and to make sure it fitted. Smiley smile

The parents being involved in purchasing rings was a tradition common in the past. I haven’t heard of anyone doing this any time recently though, aside from certain religious/cultural groups. If this is a tradition you and your groom wish to follow, it’s absolutely ok! I think most couples these days choose to shop for their rings together, in order to ensure they like them. And since it’s common to live together and share finances, it is also common for couples to purchase rings from joint accounts.

We personally are buying our own wedding bands. Our finances aren't joint yet, and he already bought the most expensive ones. Most women's wedding bands are more expensive than men's, so we decided he would buy his own and I would buy my own to kind of even it back out a little bit. This way, we can also get exactly what we're wanting, so long as it fits within our own budgets!

We have joint finances so we will be buying our rings together with our joint money.

My parents are primarily paying for the wedding however, the rings are a gift to and from FH and I so I see no reason my parents should be on the hook for that as well.

I bought both mine and FH’s rings. Only because we’re using my savings to pay for the wedding and he is saving for our house. I think a lot depends on how you’re paying for your wedding!

You as the couple buy the rings. If you want to buy his and have him buy you yours, that’s something you would have too work out together. There’s not an expected standard for this.

We just bought ours together. It happened to work out that I paid the deposit and my husband paid the remainder

We went to look at wedding bands together. Purchased both at the same time, when we were in line to checkout I asked him if he wanted me to buy his ring. He laughed (in a nice way) and said no, he would buy both rings (he makes 75% of the money in our household but we split household bills 50/50)

I was planning on buying his so that money just transferred to my dress fund. We're eloping and paying for everything ourselves (we're nearly 35 + 37, second marriage for both)
