Who buys gifts for who?

Samantha, on June 21, 2019 at 6:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 8
What I was wondering is, who out of the bride and groom buys/gives the gifts to each person. Clearly I’m buying my bridemaids gifts and FH will buy his groomsmen gifts (although there may be a bit of team effort in that 😂). But I was wondering if parents are a joint gift thing? Or if we each get them a gift from us as an individual? Or if he just gets gifts for my parents and I for his? I originally wanted to get his nothing something to say thank you for raising the man of my dreams, but I’m not sure how the gift thing goes 😅
side note: my step dad will be acting as my father, bless that man. And my FH only has his mother if those things make any difference 🤷🏼‍♀️

Traditionally the bride buys gifts for her parents and the groom buys gifts for his, but I really don't think it matters that much as long as the parents know that their support is appreciated.

Not sure how to edit but my phone change mother to nothing so for clarification it’s supposed to say “originally wanted to get his mother something..”

We bought gifts together for parents and other special family so that a little bit of each of us was incorporated into each gift. I don’t think it matters. Do whatever works for you guys.

I think I will get a small gift for my MIL to say thank you for raising the man of my dreams type of thing but I’ll find my mothers gift and make it from us both and maybe something small just for me and then the gifts for our fathers will be from us both. I’ll buy my BMs gifts and help FH with GMs gifts.

FH plans to gift something to my mom (he likes picking at least one thing out himself specifically) and I'll be gifting both mine & his mom. He wont be gifting his mom, he's not terribly close to her (he is much more close to my mom in fact), but I chose to get his mom a necklace as a thank you for raising the man I love gift, nothing too fancy but I felt like it was something I wanted to do at the very least

We are doing joint gifts for parents. We are both thanking them for their help with the wedding process.
