You invite anyone with a role in the wedding and their SO or plus one, parents in the case of flower girl or ring bearer, the officiant and SO if applicable ( they most often will decline unless you have a close personal relationship ), parents of the couple, siblings and SO's, and often grandparents. There is no obligation to invite OOT's.

Everyone who needs to be at the rehearsal including the officiant. If you’re not having a rehearsal on a day other than your wedding then no rehearsal dinner is necessary.

A lot of people, myself included, think you should invite oot guests as well. Especially if you only have a few. If you have a very lot it might not really be in the budget and I don't want to make it sound like I think it's rude if you don't.
We're looking into renting the 10 lane private bowling alley at our local Elks Lodge. We'll have bowling, beer and chili cheese dogs. So it will provide as a mixer for out town guests while being fun and, thank goodness, not be overly expensive.

We are inviting OOT guests. It’s not mandatory but certainly nice seeing how they are going through a lot to be there.

I’ll probably stick to wedding party only plus immediate family. I don’t want it to get too crazy. If I added OOTs I’d might a well have my wedding that night ! No thanks. I don’t need to pay for that many people two nights in a row.

If I went by what you wrote here I’d have over half my guest list lol. Only wedding party and grandparents are included in the oots part of it but still the significant people!

We are inviting our wedding party, their SOs, our parents, and siblings. I will not be inviting OOT guests, because we’d have to include at least 150 more people and it’s not happening. Our dinner is going to be super simple, sloppy chicken and sloppy joes with chips, veggies and dip, and probably some cookies.

We are inviting immediate family, our wedding party and their SOs. My FILs are paying for the rehearsal dinner, so we are going to keep it on the small side. Smiley smile

It just depends. We are doing immediate family, and wedding party + significant others because that will already be 40 people. I've been to ones that were immediate/extended family and out of town guests too.
